Marriott is expanding its luxury footprint in Australia with the announcement of The St. Regis Gold Coast Resort, expected to open later this decade.
Let’s take a look at what we know so far.
The Resort Will Have Nearly 200 Guest Rooms
Marriott announced on Thursday, November 17, 2022, that it had inked a deal with property development company GURNER to open a St. Regis hotel in Gold Coast, Australia.
There aren’t many details just yet, but the hotel is expected to have 185 guest rooms and suites. The property will also feature a sky bar, pool bar, spa, lounge, and signature St. Regis bar.
The St. Regis Gold Coast Resort is expected to open for guests in 2027. It will become the first tower in the sprawling $1.7 billion La Pelago resort project. La Pelago will boast more than 129,000 square feet of retail, hospitality, and private residences in an intimate landscaped setting.
“This signing of The St. Regis Gold Coast Resort in Australia is momentous for Marriott International and a wonderful advancement for the destination,” said Richard Crawford, Vice President of Hotel Development at Marriott, in a statement. “The St. Regis brand promises a vanguard spirit steeped in history and tradition and is synonymous with global luxury.”
St. Regis is one of Marriott’s high-end brands and is part of the chain’s “classic luxury” portfolio.
St. Regis hotels emphasize outstanding service and immersive experiences. There are more than 50 St. Regis hotels globally in some of the world’s most desirable locations, such as Bora Bora, the Maldives, and Italy (Florence and Rome). St. Regis properties are among the priciest Marriott hotels — whether you choose to pay in cash or points — and it’s not unheard of for a St. Regis property to cost in excess of 100,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.
