Marriott’s high-end St. Regis brand will open a new hotel in London’s fancy Mayfair neighborhood in 2023. This will be the first St. Regis hotel in the U.K. and will provide another luxury hotel to redeem points at once it opens.
What Is St. Regis?
St. Regis is one of Marriott’s 2 ultra-high-end full-service brands, along with The Ritz-Carlton. St. Regis used to be under the former Starwood flag, but was merged into the Marriott portfolio when Starwood was bought-out several years ago.
You’ll typically only find St. Regis hotels in major cities, and they’re often very well-located, usually in the trendy shopping districts. Marriott currently offers 16 St. Regis properties in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region.
The new hotel — replacing The Westbury Mayfair, a Luxury Collection Hotel, London — is located at the corner of Bond Street and Conduit Street in the Mayfair neighborhood.
The former hotel will undergo a $122 million (£90 million) renovation and will see the addition of an eighth floor to the top of the property. At its completion, the new hotel will include 196 rooms and suites.
Renovations to the hotel will include the addition of a signature restaurant, speakeasy jazz bar, and fitness center and spa, according to Marriott. The Polo Bar in the lobby will remain, offering its signature Bloody Mary cocktail.
The hotel is anticipated to open in 2023, which seems like a very quick turnaround considering most major construction projects.
There are plenty of local attractions nearby, including the West End theater district, Hyde Park, and Buckingham Palace across Green Park, all just a short walk away. Shoppers will enjoy easy access by foot to Harrod’s in Knightsbridge, Selfridges, and the famed high-end shopping of Bond Street. Marble Arch and Green Park tube stations are also easily accessible, providing relatively easy access to London Heathrow Airport (LHR).
The Future of The St. Regis London
While The St. Regis London hasn’t published rates yet and isn’t open to booking, it’s likely going to be a pricey hotel, considering where the hotel is located and the other high-end hotels nearby. Expect to redeem a lot of Marriott Bonvoy points at this hotel when it opens for bookings.
Final Thoughts
It’s incredibly exciting to see Marriott open up a luxury property in London, and the location of this hotel will truly be unbeatable for most visitors. Having another hotel that you can redeem points at is always a plus, and it is especially nice to know this property is undergoing a full top-to-bottom renovation that will make it one of the nicest places to stay in London come 2023.
