Hyatt continues to expand its luxury and lifestyle brands with the opening of Thompson Palm Springs. This modern new hotel will be located in the heart of the Sonoran Desert city, with sweeping views of the San Jacinto Mountains.

Here are the details of this exciting new Hyatt property!

Thompson Hotels Expands to Palm Springs, California

The new 168-room Thompson Palm Springs opened today, marking the brand’s second property in California.

The Thompson Palm Springs offers luxury amenities, including 2 swimming pools, indoor and outdoor lounges and bars, a signature restaurant, a spa, a fitness center, and locally inspired guest experiences. There’s even 20,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space on the hotel’s ground floor, located along the iconic Palm Canyon Drive.

This retail space will also include HALL Napa Valley, a wine-tasting room featuring selections from the hotel’s owner’s family of wines, including HALL, WALT, and BACA.

Finally, the hotel’s central location will offer guests easy access to Palm Springs’ arts and culture scene, as well as shopping and restaurants. Within the hotel, guests will be immersed in the surrounding landscape through walking paths, gardens, and lounge areas.

About Thompson Hotels

If you’re unfamiliar with the Thompson Hotels brand, you can expect mid-century modern style throughout the property and guest rooms.

No matter which room you stay in at the Thompson Palm Springs, you’re in for a chic luxury escape. Not to mention, Palm Springs is an ideal backdrop for the brand.

“With design, art and entertainment at the heart of the Thompson Hotels brand experience, downtown Palm Springs is the ideal location for one of the brand’s newest hotels,” said Kimo Bertram, vice president of real estate and development of Hyatt.

The Thompson Palm Springs marks the brand’s 19th location. By the end of 2024, 4 additional Thompson hotels will open in Houston, Miami, Monterrey, Mexico, and Shanghai.

Hot Tip:

Currently, there are Thompson Hotels in the U.S., Mexico, and Spain. For some travel inspiration, check out our picks for the best Thompson Hotels to book with points.

How To Book Thompson Palm Springs With Points

The Thompson Palm Springs hotel is a Category 5 property in World of Hyatt, costing 17,000 (off-peak), 20,000 (standard), or 23,000 (peak) points per night.

Cash costs this fall start range from about $360 to $450 per night, plus there’s a $49 per night destination fee. When you book with World of Hyatt points, you won’t pay that fee, so it can be a great deal. We saw lots of nights this fall that offered a 2 cents-per-point value or better, which is excellent considering we value Hyatt points at 1.5 cents each.

There are lots of ways to earn Hyatt points, including transferring points from Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards.

Final Thoughts

This Palm Springs hotel exudes urban luxury with access to nearby museums, galleries, restaurants, and boutiques.
