Marriott has opened its 500th TownePlace Suites property where the brand began — in Virginia.

Here’s what you need to know.

Hotel Located South of Richmond

TownePlace Suites Richmond Colonial Heights has 131 rooms with full kitchens, closets, and internet. Guests will have access to daily breakfast, a full-service bar in the lobby, and outdoor grills.

The hotel is located in Colonial Heights, a 30-minute drive from the state capital, Richmond, and Richmond International Airport (RIC). The TownePlace Suites Richmond Colonial Heights should be popular with travelers visiting nearby colleges, military installations, and other places of interest.

This has become TownPlace Suites’ 500th property (the first was also in Virginia) since its launch nearly 30 years ago.

“TownePlace Suites has experienced exponential growth and success as a hotel brand of choice for modern-day travelers, and TownePlace Suites Richmond Colonial Heights is a remarkable addition to the portfolio,” said Diana Plazas, Senior Vice President and Global Brand Leader of Select Brands at Marriott International.

Bottom Line:

TownePlace Suites is an all-suites hotel brand catering to travelers seeking extended stays. You’ll find studio, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom suites at these hotels. TownPlace Suites falls under Marriott’s “Longer Stays” brand umbrella, which also includes Element, Marriott Executive Apartments, and Residence Inn.

How to Book TownePlace Suites Richmond Colonial Heights

TownePlace Suites Richmond Colonial Heights is now welcoming guests. The hotel is part of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, which means you can earn and redeem points at the property.

As a TownePlace Suites property (one of Marriott’s economical brands), rates are appropriately priced, whether you’re paying cash or points. You’ll find stays next spring for as low as $140 per night or 19,500 Marriott Bonvoy points.

It’s super easy to earn Marriott Bonvoy points, even if you don’t often stay with the chain.

You can transfer American Express Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards points to the Marriott at a 1:1 ratio. (Amex and Chase occasionally offer limited-time transfer bonuses, giving you more points for free night redemption) or consider applying for 1 of the many Marriott Bonvoy-branded credit cards, which would significantly increase your points balance.

Final Thoughts

While TownePlace Suites isn’t one of Marriott’s luxury brands, it’s still an excellent choice for travelers looking to save money and stay in a hotel offering amenities such as full kitchens and complimentary breakfast. The hotel is also pretty affordable, whether you’re using cash or points, making it a solid option if you’re visiting the Richmond area!
