We may be compensated when you click on product links, such as credit cards, from one or more of our advertising partners. Terms apply to the offers below. See our Advertising Policy for more about our partners, how we make money, and our rating methodology. Opinions and recommendations are ours alone.

Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available. If you’re a Target Red Circle member, you can get a free Tripadvisor Plus membership. Target’s Red Circle program is free to join and take advantage of, and it’s nice to be able to earn a free Tripadvisor Plus membership, though you may not find the benefits entirely useful.

What Is Target Red Circle?

Target Red Circle is essentially Target’s “frequent shopper” program, where you can earn 1% back on all of your eligible Target purchases and then use that rebate toward future Target purchases. Target’s Red Circle program also combines the use of Target’s RedCard program where you can save up to 5% when you use the Target credit or debit card. Target advises of 3 ways you can join the Red Circle program:
  • Mobile via the Target app
  • Online
  • In-store, by entering your mobile number on the keypad or self-checkout screen. From there, you can complete your account online.

When you hold a Target Red Circle membership, you can get a complimentary Tripadvisor Plus membership when you register between March 5, 2023, and September 5, 2023. You can sign up for your membership on Target’s website. Normally this membership comes at a cost of $99 a year but is waived for Red Circle members. Here’s what’s included in a Tripadvisor Plus membership:
  • Discounts on Hertz rental cars, and the opportunity to upgrade your elite status level
  • Membership in the Dollar Flight Club for just $1 a year.
  • Ability to text an expert to receive pro travel advice.
  • Discounts on Tripadvisor hotel bookings and experiences.
  • Additional perks like upgrades, spa credits, complimentary meals, and more.
One huge downside of booking your hotels through Tripadvisor is that this would count as a third-party booking, making most hotel stays ineligible to earn points or use elite status benefits. If this is important to you, you’ll need to book directly through the hotel and forgo any discount Tripadvisor may be providing. If you’re looking for discounts on tours and experiences, Tripadvisor may be able to provide a small benefit, and since it’s free to enroll, it’s worth checking out while planning your trip. Hot Tip: Check out our ultimate guide to using Tripadvisor for booking flights, hotels, rentals, and more!

Final Thoughts

Becoming a Target Red Circle member is completely free, and because it comes with a membership to Tripadvisor Plus, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t sign up. Take a look at the discounts and see if any make sense for you.
