Uber made a significant announcement Tuesday. Customers can now earn miles with Flying Blue, the loyalty program of Air France-KLM Group, when traveling in France and the Netherlands and using Uber to get around.

This comes in perfect time for the Paris Olympics later this month. Here’s what you need to know about the partnership, plus how to sign up.

Earn Flying Blue Miles Using Uber

Uber riders in France or the Netherlands will now earn even more rewards for using the global ride-share app.

Both tourists and locals will earn 1 Flying Blue Mile per €1 spent. It rises to 2 miles per €1 spent for Uber customers who take 4 or more trips each month. To earn, you have to link your Uber and Flying Blue accounts together. The easiest way I found to link my accounts together was visit this page and scanning the QR code with my phone.

When you earn Flying Blue miles, you’re getting access to two excellent European airlines: Air France and KLM. Both carriers have a variety of routes and seats, ranging from economy to excellent first-class seats.

And while Air France and KLM are the main airlines in Flying Blue, there’s also a generous list of partner airlines with which you can redeem miles. However, each comes with various restrictions, so be sure to look into the airline before booking.

While this new option likely won’t earn you a substantial amount of miles, it can be a helpful boost as you wanderlust through France and the Netherlands. But even if your Flying Blue balance is modest, there are opportunities with Flying Blue Promo Rewards. At the time of writing, there are flights as low as 5,625 miles and opportunities to buy miles as well.

Bottom Line:

Uber and Flying Blue are describing this as a “multi-year partnership,” meaning this isn’t a short-term promotion.

How To Earn More Flying Blue Miles

The best part of Flying Blue is that several reward programs offer the ability to transfer directly to Flying Blue. If you plan on flying to/from Europe in the coming months, you could earn rewards through spending on your credit card and potentially score yourself a much cheaper flight – or even a luxurious flight.

All of the following transfer to Flying Blue:

Hot Tip:

There are numerous ways to earn Flying Blue miles — from credit cards and transfer partners to online shopping. Adding Uber rides makes the list even more robust.

Final Thoughts

This is a solid option for travelers headed to Europe to keep earning miles on rideshare expenses. However, European countries are widely known for efficient public transportation, so consider all options during your adventures.
