United has announced it will launch flights to Tepic, Mexico, making it the only U.S. airline to fly to the capital city of the Mexican state of Nayarit. The carrier will also boost key routes across Latin America and the Caribbean for winter 2025.

Here are all the details of United’s new routes and increased frequencies.

United Grows Its Mexico and Caribbean Route Network

United Airlines continues its international growth streak with new and expanded service heading into the busy winter travel season.

The airline announced it will launch new service between Houston (IAH) and Tepic, Mexico (TPQ), beginning December 20, 2025. This marks a notable milestone: United will be the first and only U.S. carrier to serve Tepic, the capital of Nayarit state and gateway to the Riviera Nayarit.

The once-weekly Saturday flight will operate on United Express Embraer E-175 aircraft and will be United’s 24th destination in Mexico. It also follows the airline’s April launch of Puerto Escondido (PXM), making TPQ United’s second new Mexican destination of 2025.

In addition to Tepic, United is rolling out 2 new international routes from Denver (DEN): nonstop service to Mexico City (MEX) and Punta Cana (PUJ), both starting October 26, 2025.

The Mexico City route expands access to United’s popular U.S. ski destinations for Mexican travelers, while the Punta Cana service gives West Coast travelers a direct link to the Dominican Republic’s eastern coast.

United is also significantly boosting winter frequencies across several U.S. hubs:

  • Houston (IAH) will see expanded frequencies to 10 Latin American cities, including daily holiday service to Aruba (AUA) and Acapulco (ACA), plus 3x-weekly flights to Puerto Escondido.
  • Newark (EWR) gets more service to Dominica (DOM), Guatemala City (GUA), and Mexican resort destinations like Puerto Vallarta (PVR) and San Jose del Cabo (SJD).
  • Washington-Dulles (IAD) will get daily service to popular Caribbean destinations, including Aruba, Turks and Caicos (PLS), and St. Thomas (STT).
  • Chicago (ORD) will see increased frequencies to San Juan (SJU), San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO), Guatemala City, and more, including twice-daily service on select routes.
  • Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) see moderate boosts, while Denver (DEN) expands service to San Jose, Costa Rica.
Hot Tip:

Award availability is often easiest to find when new routes launch — set alerts with an award search tool like seats.aero and book early to lock in saver-level redemptions, especially for peak holiday travel to Mexico and the Caribbean.

Final Thoughts

United’s winter 2025 schedule shows the airline ramping up service to destinations with sun, sand, and culture. Whether it’s the first-ever U.S. flight to Tepic or more ways to reach islands and Central American hotspots, United travelers can expect more options and easier connections all winter season.
