There’s some big news from United Airlines. The airline announced late Thursday that it would fly its largest San Francisco (SFO) schedule ever next summer.

“We’re giving our customers even more choices, including more flights to places they want to go, more flying on mainline aircraft – over half of which now feature our updated Signature Interiors – and a schedule that offers flights at times travelers want to fly,” said United’s Patrick Quayle, senior vice president of global network planning and alliances.

Let’s take a look at United’s expansion in San Francisco.

More Than 2 Dozen United Routes From SFO

United Airlines will add 28 additional domestic flights to its San Francisco (SFO) operation — its largest in company history at the airport — next summer.

The increased routes cover the East and West Coasts, as well as parts of Hawaii. Here’s a look at what’s in the pipeline next summer from SFO:

Additionally, United will launch the previously announced twice-daily service to Carlsbad, California (CLD), and the airline says more routes are forthcoming.

This is a pretty strategic move from United. San Francisco is the airline’s so-called “gateway to the Pacific,” providing customers flying through the airport with one-stop connections to United destinations in Asia and Australia.

This includes the airline’s new nonstop flight to Adelaide, Australia (ADL), launching in December, and Manila, Philippines (MNL), which recently received a second daily flight. All told, United will offer more than 300 daily departures to over 100 destinations worldwide from SFO.

Bottom Line:

This news comes on the heels of the airline’s plan to fly a new 787-9 from SFO. These will include the new United Polaris Studios, which will offer new business class suites with doors, caviar service, Starlink Wi-Fi, 4K OLED seatback screens, and more. United will fly the new 787-9 to Singapore (SIN) and London (LHR) in early 2026.

How To Book

Tickets for the routes are now available for purchase at United.com. We’re seeing some of the flights live, with round-trip tickets on the SFO-CLD route within Carlifornia starting just under $300.

Final Thoughts

It’s fall, and United is already thinking about next summer, giving travelers more than 2 dozen additional flights out of SFO. United’s increased service from San Francisco is fantastic news — not just for travelers in California but also for customers who will be able to use the airport to connect to United’s massive international network.
