American Express is expanding its lounge footprint in the U.S.

Plans include adding a Centurion Lounge at Boston (BOS), opening a new Sidecar by The Centurion Lounge at Charlotte (CLT), and expanding the existing Centurion Lounge at Dallas (DFW).

Here’s more on what we can expect at each location.

Boston Logan’s Future Centurion Lounge

As one of the few major airports in the U.S. without a Centurion Lounge, it should come as no surprise that Amex is targeting Boston (BOS).

The huge 2-story space will feature all the amenities we’d expect from a new Centurion Lounge, plus an outdoor terrace.

The lounge, located in Terminal C, is scheduled to open in 2029.

Charlotte Douglas Is Getting A Sidecar by The Centurion Lounge

After recently opening the first-ever Sidecar by The Centurion Lounge in Las Vegas (LAS), Amex is already planning for Charlotte (CLT) as its second location.

Sidecar offers a differentiated experience from the existing Centurion Lounge at Charlotte. Rather than serving as a place to work or enjoy a full meal, the space is designed for passengers with limited time who want to grab a coffee or a snack.

To that end, access to Sidecar lounges is restricted to 90 minutes before the passenger’s departure time.

Amex expects Charlotte’s Sidecar to open in Concourse A at some point in 2027.

Amex Will Expand and Modernize the Dallas-Fort Worth Centurion Lounge

The Centurion Lounge at Dallas — one of the oldest locations in the network — is getting more than a simple refresh.

“We are excited to see American Express’ continued investment in enhancing the lounge experience at DFW,” said Ken Buchanan, executive vice president and chief revenue officer at DFW.

When the updates are complete in 2027, the lounge will be 50% larger. Guests will access more seating options, a second full-service bar, and even a walk-up ice cream window.

We reached out to Amex to check whether the construction would shutter the lounge for any period of time. A spokesperson replied, stating: “Our goal is to keep the lounge experience available to Card Members throughout the process whenever possible.”

You can find the lounge in Terminal D near gate 12.

Hot Tip:

To access Amex’s Centurion and Sidecar lounges, you’ll need to be a cardholder of a select suite of Amex credit cards.

Final Thoughts

It’s great to hear that Amex will be adding more lounge space, especially in busy airports like Charlotte and Dallas, where overcrowding can be problematic.

The Sidecar location in Charlotte will be particularly welcome after the first space was so well-received in Las Vegas.

Could it be Chicago O’Hare (ORD)‘s turn next?
