Those with the U.S. Bank Cash+® Visa Signature® Card and U.S. Bank Altitude® Connect Visa Signature® Card have a new benefit to enjoy. If you didn’t get the email about it, we’re here to spill the beans: You can get a 5% discount on gift cards.

If you’re buying gift cards for yourself or others, read on to learn about this new perk for cardholders.

Gift Card Discount Added to Select U.S. Bank Credit Cards

Those with the U.S. Bank Cash+ Signature card and U.S. Bank Altitude Connect card can now enjoy an additional benefit. Going forward, these cardholders can enjoy a 5% discount on gift cards purchased through The Gift Card Shop.

This 5% discount is in addition to points and cash-back earned with your U.S. Bank Altitude Connect card and U.S. Bank Cash+ Signature card at the time of purchase — and in addition to other perks mentioned when you log in to your account.

For those unfamiliar with U.S. Bank’s page within The Gift Card Shop, you’ll see suggested gift cards after you log in. However, you can use the drop-down menu at the top right to sort by price, alphabetical order, or best sellers.

Using filters on the left side, you can choose between e-gift cards and physical cards (which come in the mail and may have a shipping charge). You can also sort by brand category, features, and occasions.

If those don’t work for you, a search bar in the top right corner (near the shopping cart icon) lets you type in a brand name to search for a particular gift card option.

No promo code is needed, though you’ll see the discount reflected clearly on the payment page, listed as a promo code discount.

Is It Worth It?

If you’re buying gift cards, a discount is always welcome. Just be sure to shop around. Can you get that same gift card at a better price elsewhere? Check your local supermarket and office supply stores for starters. Wholesale clubs like Costco and Sam’s Club also sell gift cards and can provide big discounts, though there is a membership fee associated with these stores.

Final Thoughts

Those with the U.S. Bank Cash+ Signature card and U.S. Bank Altitude Connect card now enjoy a 5% discount on gift card purchases through The Gift Card Shop. Cardholders also earn rewards on purchases, allowing for a “double-dip” with rewards.

Before pulling out your wallet, make sure that this combination provides more value than what’s available elsewhere. Comparison shopping is always a good idea.
