Today, the U.K. carrier has boosted eligible Flying Club members’ accounts. If you’ve flown Virgin Atlantic at least once per year since 2021, then you’ll find a bonus 12,000 points in your account, thanks to the High Five offer.

“High Five is our way of recognising that loyalty isn’t one-size-fits-all and giving something back to customers who make Virgin Atlantic their airline of choice over time,” said Anthony Woodman, vice president of Flying Club and CRM for Virgin.

Let’s take a look at the details of Virgin’s new loyalty reward.

What To Know About Virgin’s 12,000-Point Loyalty Bonus

Any Flying Club member who has taken at least 1 Virgin Atlantic–operated flight every year for the last 5 years will earn a “High Five” bonus of 12,000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points.

However, if you flew Virgin in 2021, skipped 2022, and then flew again in 2023, 2024, and 2025, you’ll still earn the 12,000-point bonus the next time you take a qualifying flight — whether that’s in 2026, 2027, or later. It’s not based on consecutive years of flying.

Members will soon be able to track progress toward their High Five award in the Flying Club app.

Flights will be tracked back to January 1, 2021, so many Flying Club members will have already qualified for the 12,000 bonus points by January 1. Once you’ve earned your High Five reward, the points will land automatically in your account.

This perk is especially refreshing because it isn’t tied to elite status or how much you’ve spent with Virgin. Any member can earn it.

What Can You Do With 12,000 Virgin Points?

It might not sound like much, but when you redeem Virgin points, 12,000 is enough for a one-way economy flight from the East Coast to London. You can even find Upper Class (business class) awards starting at just 29,000 Virgin Points, although taxes and fees are close to $600.

You can also redeem Virgin Points on other SkyTeam member airlines, like Delta. I even saved almost $300 on a LATAM flight in Brazil last year by using 7,500 Virgin Points, even though LATAM isn’t in the SkyTeam alliance.

In addition to flights, you can redeem Virgin points for stays at Virgin Hotels, Virgin Limited Edition Hotels, adventures onboard a Virgin Voyages cruise, and much more.

Final Thoughts

Virgin’s High Five bonus is a rare bit of good news for travelers: a loyalty perk that’s easy to understand, easy to earn, and genuinely useful — and doesn’t require a high spending amount or tracking elite status to get it. If you’ve flown Virgin in 5 different years, 12,000 points are heading your way.

If you haven’t completed the goal yet, the bonus will be waiting for you after your fifth qualifying year.
