Following a multi-year renovation, the Waldorf Astoria New York is officially open (ahead of schedule) as of today, July 15, 2025.

Guests can once again stay at this legendary property on Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. From “sidewalk to spire,” this iconic hotel is ushering in a new era of luxury in New York City.

Let’s take a look at “The Greatest of Them All” and how you can book it with Hilton Honors points.

Waldorf Astoria New York Reborn

The 375-room Waldorf Astoria New York is officially open after being closed for 8 years for renovation — and a long list of other issues. After years of careful restoration, the iconic hotel was expected to reopen in September 2025, but surprised everyone by opening its doors on July 15, ready to welcome guests.

While not everything is ready for primetime just yet, Hilton says that over the coming weeks, the hotel “will fully bring to life experiences that define the next era of modern luxury.”

In many ways, Waldorf Astoria New York is the most important hotel in the world. It is the original luxury property and the place where luxury service was perfected. It not only holds a special place in Hilton’s history, but also in modern history.

Guests can now book rooms and suites and make reservations at the hotel’s 3 food and beverage outlets. The legendary Grand Ballroom and spa are scheduled to open in September.

Architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and interior design firm Pierre-Yves Rochon have led a “meticulously and thoughtfully crafted restoration effort” to this iconic Manhattan property.

Waldorf Astoria New York has always been the place to be in New York City, and whether you are a visitor or a New Yorker, we know so many around the globe have their own fond stories with our hotel. Visitors returning to the property will notice many of the historical elements, from the Grand Ballroom to the lobby with the famous Waldorf Astoria clock, have been restored to bring back the original grandeur, while thoughtful enhancements were incorporated for today’s traveler. We look forward to lifting the curtain on Waldorf Astoria New York as it makes its grand reveal back to our beloved city and welcoming the world to create new memories at this iconic hotel.

There will be 43,000 square feet of event space, including legendary spaces like the Grand Ballroom and Jade Room, restored to their original splendor.

Finally, there will be a 30,000-square-foot spa and fitness center, complete with an outdoor terrace.

How To Book The Waldorf Astoria With Points

If you are as excited to check out this hotel as we are, you are likely wondering about the price. Well, this is among Hilton’s most expensive hotels in New York City. You will be lucky to find a room for less than $2,000 per night this summer.

But if you want to pay with points, you’ll need to wait until at least January to find standard award availability at 150,000 Hilton Honors points per night.

If you don’t feel like forking over $2,000+ per night, paying with points is the way to go. Hilton Honors doesn’t utilize an award chart, which means rates can be higher or lower depending on several factors, such as season and demand. But it’s relatively easy to earn Hilton Honors points. The chain offers several co-branded credit cards. Aside from the hearty welcome bonuses, you’ll also earn points on your Hilton stays and categories like restaurants and travel.

You can also transfer points from American Express Membership Rewards and Bilt Rewards to your Hilton Honors account if you’re still running low. You can also earn points on your Lyft rides or with Hilton Honors Dining.

Hot Tip:

Select Hilton Honors co-branded cards offer a free night certificate that can be used at the Waldorf Astoria New York! A stay here would present an excellent, high-value use of these awards.

Final Thoughts

After closing in 2017, the iconic Waldorf Astoria New York officially opened on July 15, 2025, almost 2 months earlier than expected.

Excited guests can once again stay at this incredible property. If you’re looking for an aspirational points hotel in New York, this is probably as good as it gets.
