Wells Fargo isn’t done tinkering with its rewards program. After recently adding Wyndham Rewards and Cathay Pacific as transfer partners, the bank just rolled out a refreshed gift card redemption experience for Rewards customers.

The new portal is live as of today, April 30, 2026, and includes more than 275 brands. It also offers rotating point discounts and a cleaner interface to both consumer and business cardholders.

If you’ve been sitting on a stack of Wells Fargo Rewards points and weren’t sure what to do with them, this is another option worth knowing about. However, it isn’t necessarily the best use of your points.

New Wells Fargo Rewards Interface for Gift Cards

The refreshed experience covers a lot of ground. You’ll find familiar names across retail, dining, entertainment, and travel — think Apple, Amazon, Sephora, Nordstrom, Athleta, Banana Republic, GAP, Fandango, DoorDash, and hundreds more. Both physical and digital gift cards are available, with fixed denominations as well as custom amounts.

The headline feature of this update is the rotating 10% point discount on select brands with Wells Fargo Rewards points. Wells Fargo flags these as limited-time merchant offers, and they show up clearly on the gift card landing page with a “10% Off” badge.

To find these discounted gift cards, first log in to your account at wellsfargo.com. Then, click on your rewards balance. On the following page, click View All Options. The following page shows all redemption options; here, click on Gift Cards.

As an example, a $100 Apple eGift card currently costs 9,000 points instead of 10,000, thanks to the 10% discount.

A spokesperson for Wells Fargo says discounted brands will rotate, similar to the recurring gift card sales Citi runs for ThankYou Points cardholders. If the brand you want doesn’t have a discount today, check back later to see if that’s changed.

Is It Worth It?

The short answer: probably not, unless you’re in a specific situation. Here’s what we mean.

At Upgraded Points, we value Wells Fargo Rewards points at 1.5 cents each, based on the program’s strongest redemptions: transferring points to airline and hotel partners for premium-cabin flights and aspirational hotel stays.

Even with the 10% discount, redeeming 9,000 points for a $100 Apple gift card works out to just 1.11 cents per point, well below our valuation.

The best ways to redeem Wells Fargo Rewards points almost always involve transfer partners. Moving points to programs like Air France-KLM Flying Blue, Avianca Lifemiles, Choice Privileges, or the newer additions Wyndham Rewards and Cathay Pacific can stretch your points to 2 cents or more apiece on the right itinerary. Even booking travel through the Wells Fargo Rewards portal or applying points as a statement credit typically lands around 1 cent per point — in the same neighborhood as a discounted gift card.

Gift cards aren’t a bad option if you already have more than enough points to cover your upcoming trips and don’t want a balance sitting indefinitely — or if you really need a specific gift card and don’t want to spend money on it. For most cardholders with travel goals, though, transfer partners remain the best option for using points.

Final Thoughts

Wells Fargo’s refreshed gift card portal is a clean upgrade, and the rotating discounts are a real perk if you time them right. Just keep the math in mind. At 1.11 cents per point on a discounted card, you’re getting less value for your points than you can get with Wells Fargo’s transfer partners — especially as the list of partners continues to improve.

If you’ve got points to spare and a gift in mind, go for it. Otherwise, save your rewards for a flight or hotel booking that puts the program’s full value to work.
