Kelowna is British Columbia’s third-largest metropolitan area after Vancouver and Victoria. As an update to its winter schedule, WestJet will be adding 2 new routes out of the Kelowna International Airport (YLW) to Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas and Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ), offering 2 weekly services in each direction.

Kelowna to Toronto

As announced in August, the Kelowna to Toronto flight will begin on November 5, 2023, with a twice-weekly service on a Boeing 737:

Toronto is the largest city in Canada and a hub for major international and domestic air traffic, so it’s no surprise that WestJet is adding a route here since it last served this route in April of 2022. Air Canada currently serves the 2 cities, so WestJet will be going head-to-head with its biggest competitor.

Las Vegas is a major cultural destination, not only for gambling and entertainment but also for large conferences. The city has seen extreme growth over the past several years, with airlines expanding like crazy to serve Sin City. WestJet used to serve Kelowna to Las Vegas in 2017, so it will be nearly 6 years since it has operated this route.

Hot Tip:

One of the easiest ways to fly WestJet using miles is by taking advantage of the partnership with Delta Air Lines. You can use Delta SkyMiles to fly WestJet.

Final Thoughts

Kelowna will see new flights to Las Vegas and Toronto starting this winter. While the new routes will only operate twice per week, it’s nice to see additional expansion into this somewhat unknown but large city in British Columbia.
