World of Hyatt Is Surveying Members About Some Big Changes — Here’s What We Know So Far

If you haven’t checked your inbox lately, you might have missed something interesting. Hyatt has been sending out surveys to a select group of World of Hyatt members, asking pointed questions about potential program changes.

Not everyone is receiving these, but what’s being asked paints a pretty telling picture of where the program might be heading, and some of it is worth paying attention to. Unfortunately, much of it points to changes members won’t like.

Here’s what we know so far — and remember that none of these changes is guaranteed to be enacted.

What Is Hyatt Asking Members About in a New Survey?

The biggest headline buried in these surveys is the possibility of a new World of Hyatt elite status tier sitting above Globalist.

If you’ve followed other hotel loyalty programs, this idea isn’t new. Marriott Bonvoy has Ambassador Elite, Hilton recently launched Diamond Reserve, and both have clear qualification thresholds requiring both stays and a spending requirement.

While it’s not widely publicized, Hyatt already has a tier called Courtesy Card for its very highest spenders, but a publicly available elite tier — likely requiring somewhere around 100 nights and a spending something like $20,000+ annually — would be a notable shift. For most Globalists, this wouldn’t change their day-to-day experience, but it signals that Hyatt is thinking more carefully about rewarding its most profitable members.

Milestone Rewards are also reportedly up for a revamp. Currently, these are the bonus rewards you earn at set night thresholds throughout the year, letting you choose perks you like along the way. The survey suggests changes could stretch the range from 20 nights all the way to 150, which would mean more interaction with World of Hyatt — and potentially more value — spread across a wider band of members, not just those chasing top-tier status.

That said, new choices members don’t really like could replace fan-favorite options.

Other items the survey touched on include changes to how free night awards work (potentially allowing top-ups like IHG and Marriott already do), modifications to how parking and resort fees are handled for elite members, and the future of the Globalist Concierge, which has been inconsistently delivered since launch.

Other Changes Coming to World of Hyatt This Year

The survey isn’t happening in a vacuum. Hyatt has already confirmed revisions to its award charts taking effect in May, which will alter how many points you need for certain properties. On top of that, hotel category changes — which directly affect award redemption costs — are confirmed for April. Those are 2 significant devaluations hitting in relatively quick succession, and it’s a good reminder to use or plan your points redemptions sooner rather than later.

Hyatt’s World of Hyatt has long been considered one of the better-run hotel loyalty programs, and, to its credit, the brand seems to be genuinely testing the waters before making sweeping moves.
