We recently reported on the removal of 3 benefits from American Express card products, including the complimentary ShopRunner free shipping membership.

Now, ShopRunner is being removed from more cards — this time from World and World Elite-branded Mastercard products.

Here’s what you should know.

What Is ShopRunner?

ShopRunner is an online retail platform that partners with hundreds of stores to offer deals and simplify the online shopping process. It also offers a membership tier that provides perks like free 2-day shipping, free returns, member-only discounts, and more.

Typically, a ShopRunner membership costs $79 per year, but it’s been provided as a complimentary benefit on a wide range of American Express credit cards and on Mastercard’s World and World Elite cards.

ShopRunner Membership Going Away for Some Mastercard Products

We reported a few days ago that American Express would no longer provide a complimentary ShopRunner membership to cardholders. Now, we’ve learned that the benefit is also going away for World and World Elite Mastercard products as of September 30, 2025.

The Amex-provided ShopRunner membership has quite a long runway for its sunset, as cardholders have 2 years from the expiration of the existing membership year to enjoy benefits.

However, the fine print of the Mastercard-ShopRunner partnership states: “Eligible World and World Elite Mastercard cardholders can enroll for a complimentary ShopRunner membership through September 30, 2025” — with no language discussing a long off-ramp for cardholders.

While World and World Elite Mastercard products will lose complimentary ShopRunner memberships at the end of September, they still offer a respectable list of benefits and protections. Plus, ShopRunner itself offers a yearlong free trial of a membership, which you can sign up for here.

World Mastercard products include perks such as Mastercard Hotels & Resorts Collection Benefits, car rental insurance, trip cancellation and interruption insurance, cell phone protection, purchase protection, extended warranty, price protection, and more.

World Elite Mastercard products include all of those benefits and more, including access to the World Elite concierge, car rental perks, additional statement credits and discounts with several platforms, and even more.

Final Thoughts

ShopRunner memberships will no longer be a complimentary benefit of World and World Elite Mastercard products. This news comes on the heels of American Express sharing that it will remove complimentary ShopRunner memberships from its cards, though Amex cardholders can still have access to their memberships for at least 2 years.

If you enjoy and value a ShopRunner membership, remember that you can sign up for a free trial for an entire year!
