Finnair has a variety of fare types for economy, and they usually include 1 or 2 checked bags, depending on the passenger’s luggage needs.

If you plan to fly with more luggage than you get for free, be sure to add them to your fare online rather than paying at the airport, as the fees can be significantly higher there.

Finnair Carry-On Allowance

Passengers get 1 personal item for free.

For standard carry-on bags, the rules are:

  • Economy Superlight: Not included but available to purchase
  • Economy Classic and Flex: 1 free
  • Premium Economy Light, Classic, and Flex: 1 free
  • Business Light, Classic, and Flex: 1 free

There are size and weight restrictions for your carry-on and personal bags:

  • 16 x 12 x 6 inches (40 x 30 x 15 cm) for personal bags
  • 22 x 16 x 9 inches (55 x 40 x 23 cm) for carry-on bags
  • Personal and carry-on bags can have a maximum combined weight of 17.5 pounds (8 kilograms) for economy and 26.5 pounds (12 kilograms) for business.

If you’re traveling with a lap infant, you can bring a stroller aboard, but it must be a collapsible stroller that adheres to the size and weight limits for carry-on baggage. The stroller counts toward your carry-on allowance. You may instead check your stroller for free.

Finnair Checked Baggage Allowance

Individually, each checked bag can’t exceed 35 x 30 x 18 inches (90 x 75 x 45 cm), including handles and wheels. Checked bags can weigh up to 50 pounds (23 kg) for economy and premium economy passengers or up to 70 pounds (32 kg) for business class.

This table tells you how many checked bags you’re allowed for free, based on your fare class and the departure region and destination region of your flight.

What is the baggage allowance for Finnair?

Finnair has a baggage allowance of 1 to 3 bags, depending on the fare type and route. Your fare type and frequent flyer status determine the weight allowance for each bag: either 50 pounds (23 kg) or 70 pounds (32 kg).

What is the baggage allowance for international flights?

Each airline sets its own baggage allowances for checked and carry-on luggage, though they’re all generally in the same ballpark. If you want to what you can peruse our detailed guide to the checked baggage restrictions for the world’s most popular airlines. Naturally, we also cover carry-on rules for the world’s most popular airlines. If you want to go over baggage fees for the most popular airlines, we have a guide for that, too.
