After less than 24 hours in Tallinn, Estonia, on a whirlwind mid-March 2025 tour of northern Europe, my friend and I found ourselves at Tallinn Airport (TLL), ready to continue onward to Oslo, Norway. Thanks to complimentary lounge access, I could not have been happier to land in the calm environs of the Airport LHV Lounge.

Learn where the lounge is, how to access it, what types of food and drinks are served, and the many amenities it offers in this detailed tour of Tallin’s Airport LHV Lounge.

Airport LHV Lounge Location

The Airport LHV Lounge is airside for the Schengen area of the airport. After passing through security and duty-free, look for directional signage on the left.

First Impressions

Tallinn had received an ample layer of snow the previous night, and our 10 a.m. visit was lovely timing to see the remains of the flurries across the apron and on top of the terminal roofs.

The spacious lounge was at very low capacity, with just a handful of passengers. My friend and I were overwhelmed with seating options.

What struck me most was how much space had been planned out between the varied seating areas. No areas felt tight or crowded by furniture.

However, the size of the lounge gave the impression that it could be at capacity at times. I’ve been to several crowded lounges where people will often just sit and lean against a wall when they can’t find a seat. I appreciated that the Airport LHV Lounge integrated a window bench with multipurpose stools-cum-tables that ran the length of the lounge. This feature could function as overflow seating or a space to gaze lazily across the gates and aircraft.

Seating

The area just past the buffet and outdoor terrace had a long, bar-height counter with stools on one side overlooking a wide fireplace feature.

The seats had Type-F outlets and inputs for USB-A and USB-C charging.

The other side of the counter seating had cushioned seats with dining-height tables and dining-style chairs. The side tables dividing the seating had open nooks for sliding in a carry-on bag.

This seating configuration echoed throughout the lounge, along the windows, with the addition of stools. This space also had a small kitchenette with a few bowls of snacks, a sink, and a drink cooler.

The central section of the lounge had more traditional dining tables, a few TVs, and a departure board.

I liked that there were also private areas if you wanted to be seated away from the hustle and bustle.

The areas closest to the buffet could accommodate large groups in booths.

Finally, there was a smaller room that I’d consider more of an overflow space. It was close to the check-in desk, a bit separated from the rest of the lounge, and looked like it could be partitioned off with curtains.

The only types of seating that seemed to be missing were chaise loungers and recliners.

Food and Beverages

Hot food is only served from 12 to 5 p.m. Snacks and a light buffet are served at other times.

Buffet and Self-Service Snacks

I liked that self-serve snacks, including fresh fruit, candies, cookies, crackers, and nuts, were stationed throughout the lounge.

My visit fell squarely between breakfast and lunch, and the buffet was essentially set for light bites. It featured egg salad, grilled zucchini and peppers, pickles and olives, pasta salad, grilled chicken chunks, and fresh lettuce and tomatoes.

A cooler contained sandwiches and light bites, including chicken Caesar wraps, seed bread with egg butter and sprat (shown below), miniature croissants with mozzarella and tomato, and roast beef sandwiches.

Beverages

Drink coolers were spread throughout the lounge, but the primary buffet had the most selections, including Coca-Cola products, Carlsberg nonalcoholic beer, and tonic water.

A self-service coffee machine could make espressos, lattes, cappuccinos, and more.

The back counter also had fresh fruit, croissants, spirits, Maison Calvet Varietals cabernet sauvignon, a juice dispenser, and Estonian beer on tap from Saku.

Amenities

Outdoor Terrace

An outdoor terrace, approved for smoking, was near the buffet. However, the views from inside the lounge were better for plane-spotting because the terminal roof blocked most of the tarmac view.

Kids Area

A small kids area had a TV and a small carpeted ledge for sitting. A high chair was also stored here.

This was one of the lounge’s weaker amenities. It wasn’t terribly visible for parental supervision from the main seating area, and it was also devoid of toys, color, and fun.

Meeting Room

A private meeting room could accommodate 6 people and also had HDMI connections for utilizing the TV.

Business Center

Phone Booth

Restrooms

The primary restroom was unisex, something I’d never seen before in a lounge!

Showers

Wall Bars

Wi-Fi

No complaints about Wi-Fi speeds. The network was easy to connect to and had download speeds of 14.6 Mbps and upload speeds of 9.69 Mbps.

Service

With so few passengers in the lounge, there wasn’t a significant staff presence outside of the 2 women working at the check-in desk. The buffet and snacks were well-stocked across our 90-minute visit, and the seating areas were kept free of trash and plates.

Final Thoughts

I thoroughly enjoyed the Airport LHV Lounge in Tallinn, and it’s worth giving yourself extra time before your flight to check it out. The seating areas were thoughtfully designed to give guests their own space without encroaching on others, and the views across the active tarmac were fantastic.

The more I explored the lounge, the more amenities I uncovered. The kids area offers the biggest opportunity for improvement, as having a more welcoming and enriching space for families would be a fantastic enhancement. An all-day hot buffet would also be nice, but I surprisingly enjoyed the salad bar offerings, and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed in what is offered.
