The Tokyo (HND) American Express Centurion Lounge — Location, Hours, Amenities, and More

Tokyo has 2 major international airports: Haneda (HND), to the southwest and closest to the city, and Narita (NRT), around 40 miles east. While Narita connects the country to the most international destinations and offers the widest variety of airlines, the Big 3 U.S. carriers — American, Delta, and United — fly more passengers at Haneda than Narita, and that may have convinced American Express that Haneda would be the best location for its Tokyo Centurion Lounge.

After the closure of the Mumbai location in July 2026, the American Express Centurion Lounge at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport is one of 3 remaining locations in Asia. The others are in Delhi (DEL) and Hong Kong (HKG).

How To Access the Centurion Lounge Tokyo Haneda

The only way to access the Centurion Lounge at Tokyo Haneda is by having one of the following American Express cards in your wallet:

• Platinum Card^® from American Express
• The Business Platinum Card^® from American Express
• Centurion^® Card from American Express*

You’ll be eligible no matter the airline or the cabin class you’re flying.

Additionally, passengers traveling on a same-day Delta flight purchased with either the Delta SkyMiles^® Reserve American Express Card or the Delta SkyMiles^® Reserve Business American Express Card are eligible to use the lounge.

You can enter the lounge up to 3 hours before your scheduled departing flight, or up to 5 hours during a layover. Customers with the Amex Platinum card and Amex Business Platinum card can bring guests for a $50 fee per guest, or $30 for children 2 through 17. That’s unless they spend $75,000 in eligible purchases on their card in a calendar year, in which case they can bring up to 2 complimentary guests. Guests must be traveling on the same flight as the cardholder.

The Centurion Lounge Location

The lounge is located in Terminal 3, on the second floor of a dedicated lounge area near gate 114.

All foreign airlines arrive and depart from this terminal, as well as all of JAL‘s international flights and most of ANA‘s international flights. After clearing security, I didn’t immediately notice any signs with lounge information, so I wandered around a bit until I found a terminal map.

Opening Hours

The Tokyo American Express Centurion Lounge is open daily from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.

First Impressions

Waiting in line to get into a lounge in the middle of the day because of overcrowding is becoming more common these days, but this was the first time I’ve ever had to wait for a Centurion Lounge to open. It wasn’t the greatest of starts.

At check-in, the friendly receptionist asked to see my boarding pass and Amex Platinum card before welcoming me in. Centurion cardholders were asked to come forward and use a priority line. Once inside, the familiar Amex green wall let me know I couldn’t be anywhere other than a Centurion Lounge.

The rest of the lounge’s decor featured all the classic Amex-style ornaments, books, and wall art.

Seating Areas

The lounge was split into 2 main areas: the main lounge first, followed by the bar and restaurant space.

Around 30 to 40 people can probably be seated at any one time in the main lounge area, so it’s not a huge space. Whether guests want to work, relax, eat, or read a book, there’s seating, including cozy booths, to suit all activities.

The whole area at the far end of the main lounge, and all of the booth-style seating along the windows, had reserved signs, leaving only about half of the total seats available. Most reserved tables were for Centurion cardholders, and some simply said “reserved”.

When I asked, I was told that Centurion cardholders could wait at the tables reserved for them while they waited to use the exclusive private space available to them, a room just behind the reception desk. I didn’t go inside to get photos because it was occupied, but given its location in the lounge, I’m pretty certain it doesn’t have any windows.

The bar and restaurant area felt larger than the other main seating area. Even during the morning rush, there was ample seating for everyone, in a variety of styles.

USB-C, USB-A, and regular power outlets could be found at almost every seat, and even behind sofas.

Food and Beverages

The open kitchen where chefs prepared made-to-order dishes was the perfect place to get a final meal before leaving Japan.

During my visit at breakfast time, a selection of egg dishes, including omelets, could be requested from the chefs.

The breakfast buffet was awash with colorful and healthy options. The juicy cherries were a highlight for me.

I chuckled at the vegan food section that consisted of just rice and some boiled vegetables.

Back in the main seating area, near all the reserved tables, there was a second, smaller buffet station with sweet and savory options. I didn’t see anyone eating from here, and wondered if it was reserved only for Centurion cardholders.

Self-service beer machines, complete with chilled glasses, are another distinctly Japanese lounge feature. I didn’t test the quality of the coffee from the bean-to-cup machine, since I’d just had a barista-made espresso in the nearby Cathay Pacific Lounge while waiting for this one to open.

The well-stocked bar also offered all the usual soft drinks, and a surprisingly expansive cocktail menu. Each month, there’s a special drink, which in August was a sparkling sake.

Amenities

Lounge guests have access to showers, which must be booked at the reception desk. The mood-lit private rooms come with toiletries, towels, and a hair dryer.

As is typical in Japan, the lounge also had a smoking room.

Hot Tip:

Terminal 3 at Haneda also has 2 Priority Pass lounges, which may not be to the same high standard as the Centurion Lounge, but will offer a quiet space with free drinks, food, and power outlets — and do not depend on the specific airline you’re flying. They can be accessed thanks to credit cards that offer Priority Pass.

Staff and Service

The few interactions I had with staff were in keeping with what I’d become accustomed to in Japan: polite and a touch on the formal side.

Final Thoughts

My expectations of the Tokyo Centurion Lounge, from what I’d heard and read, were that it would be on the smaller side, but the food would be excellent. I can now confirm both of these things are true.

Aside from the late opening time and apparent excess of reserved tables, it’s a very good lounge. However, be aware that there is an even better one nearby, the Cathay Pacific Lounge. If you have access to it, it’s an incredible space, with a lot of room, great views and a noodle bar.
