Those with a Priority Pass membership looking for a place to pass the time before their flight out of Riga, Latvia, will find just 2 Priority Pass lounges. Depending on your membership, one of those (the Kepler Hotel & Lounge) may be off-limits.

If you have time to kill before a departure from Riga International Airport (RIX) and find this lounge in the Priority Pass app, you may wonder what it’s like. Overall, it has some great amenities and more food than you might expect for a lounge that doesn’t have a major name on the front. However, the location isn’t ideal, and not all of the amenities are complimentary.

Here’s what you should know about the Primeclass Riga Business Lounge.

How To Access the Primeclass Riga Business Lounge

The Primeclass Riga Business Lounge is open daily from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. It’s possible to pay to get in at a cost of €55 ($64) per adult.

However, the lounge also serves as the predeparture lounge for business class passengers flying with several airlines, including airBaltic, Finnair, Turkish Airlines, and more.

Additionally, it’s possible to access the lounge with a lounge membership from Priority Pass. The lounge has an obvious sign at the check-in desk saying Priority Pass members are welcome. Though you can purchase a Priority Pass membership, you also might be able to enroll for a complimentary membership through your credit card.

I have the Platinum Card® from American Express, which offers a Priority Pass with unlimited visits (and best-in-class lounge access) after enrollment in this benefit.

5 Things To Know About the Primeclass Riga Business Lounge

If you’re passing through the Riga airport, here’s what you should know about this lounge.

1. Its Location Is a Bit Out of the Way

The Primeclass lounge is near gate B1. Gate B1, unfortunately, isn’t near the rest of the B gates.

That means it’s a bit out of the way, and you should allow for 10 minutes to get from here to gates B2 and B3 and a few more minutes for others.

That said, finding the lounge when you’re close to gate B1 is pretty easy. There’s a big sign near the stairs, and there’s an elevator to the right of the sign. On the upper floor, there’s nowhere to go but into the lounge.

2. Seating Is Abundant

The Primeclass lounge has lots of seating. To the right of the check-in desk, you’ll find groups of chairs around circular tables. Through some open doorways, continuing into the lounge (toward the windows overlooking the planes), is the larger, main seating area.

Here, you can choose from rectangular armchairs with lots of padding, high-back chairs at the far end, or chairs with a bit of recline to them. These are closest to the exterior windows. Wooden tables for your food and drinks are abundant here, also.

3. It Offers More Than Just Basic Amenities

Yes, the Primeclass lounge has complimentary water, bathrooms, and Wi-Fi. Those are nonnegotiables for airport lounges at this point. And the internet connection was both reliable and fast, giving me over 60Mbps for downloads and over 70Mbps for uploads.

The bathrooms, while small, were bright and were cleaned regularly. These were at the far right end of the lounge (from the entry, moving away from the buffet).

However, the lounge also has some interesting additional amenities. Throughout the lounge, look for these black towers with multiple outlets for people to charge their devices.

Look for these and grab a seat next to one.

Near the restrooms, the lounge also offers both showers and suites with beds for sleeping. These have an additional charge, so talk to staff at the check-in desk if you’re interested.

As for pricing, single rooms start at €75 ($87) for 3 hours and €25 ($29) for each additional hour — or €170 ($197) for an 8-hour block. Double rooms, by comparison, cost €105 ($121) for the first 3 hours, €35 ($40) for each additional hour, or an 8-hour block for €230 ($266).

The lounge also offers a conference room (for a fee) and complimentary safe deposit boxes large enough to store most carry-on bags.

4. Food and Drinks Are Good

There’s a vast spectrum when it comes to lounges and their food and beverages. You could find everything from “all we have is a bowl of chips” to chef-curated meals or even sit-down dining.

At the Primeclass Riga Business Lounge, there are several soups and hot dishes, cold cuts, salad fixings, and juices. There’s also coffee, tea, and sodas. Dishes lean toward regional fare like herring and cheeses.

5. Planespotting Is Easy

Windows — there are lots of them in this lounge. That means finding a seat with views to the gates and the runway is very easy.

Final Thoughts

The Primeclass Riga Business Lounge isn’t the fanciest lounge in the world, but it’s better than many lounges in the Priority Pass network and provides good amenities, quality seating options, and a range of food and beverage options.

Its location near gate B1 isn’t perfect for everyone, but the airport’s smaller size offsets some of that.
