Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, it’s nice to have a suitcase that you’re proud to roll alongside you, while knowing that it can endure the bumps and scrapes that are evitable with air travel.

Delsey is a brand known for creating reliable and functional luggage that also looks fabulous when cruising along the carousel or rolling up to the gate. When choosing Delsey luggage, you never have to sacrifice style for functionality, or vice versa. It quite often ticks many boxes, and that’s why it’s one of our favorite luggage brands.

Delsey Paris Cruise 3.0 Hardside Luggage Video Review

The Delsey Paris Cruise 3.0 Hardside collection is available in several different sizes, and for this detailed review, we examined the carry-on version. All luggage sizes have similar specifications in terms of materials, wheels, handles, etc, with only a couple of variations that we’ll cover later on in this review.

Delsey Paris Cruise 3.0 Hardside Overall Rating

Delsey Cruise 3.0 Hardside Carry-On
Delsey's Cruise 3.0 Hardside has a ribbed, metallic exterior that is incredibly stylish. With a selection of different colorways, you can go as bold or understated as you like.

Once again, Delsey has managed to design a suitcase that effortlessly looks and plays the part. The ribbed, metallic exterior is incredibly stylish and makes the case look more expensive than it actually is. With a selection of different colorways, you can go as bold or understated as you like.

When it comes to form and functionality, this case does not disappoint. Its packing compartments are pretty standard for Delsey, but it does have an integrated TSA lock and a nifty USB port at the top of the case for easy charging on the go.

Delsey Paris Cruise 3.0 Hardside Size and Compartments

Delsey Paris Cruise 3.0 Hardside Size
The carry-on is slightly larger than the requirements for most U.S. domestic and international airlines. Image Credit: Amar Hussain

Measuring 22.75 x 15 x 10 inches including its handles and wheels, this case is slightly larger than the carry-on requirements for many U.S. domestic and international airlines.

Weighing 7.4 pounds, the Cruise 3.0 is not as lightweight as some other Delsey luggage, such as the Clavel Hardside, but it is manufactured from a more dense and durable material (polycarbonate versus polypropylene).

The Delsey Cruise 3.0 has a colored zipper to expand your case by 1 inch for extra packing room. This is ideal for packing souvenirs on your return journey, but just be careful not to exceed the size restrictions for your airline when using it.

This case opens like a clamshell with 2 equal-sized compartments, so you’ll need a good-sized area to access the contents of your case when opening. One side of the case has an open packing space with X-shaped compression straps to hold your clothes in place.

The other packing compartment has a zippered divider to hold everything in place in transit and when opening and closing the case. With a mesh top, it’s quick and easy to spot what you need, while also allowing air to circulate if you have any damp items.

Leaking toiletries happen to everyone at one point or another, so we were pleased to see that the interior lining is removable and washable on a delicate wash.

Delsey Paris Cruise 3.0 Hardside USB Charging

There’s an integrated USB port for quick and easy charging on the go. We love this for topping up a cell phone or Kindle during those long connections between flights or gate delays.

There’s also a small pocket to hold a power bank for the USB port. Image Credit: Amar Hussain

You’ll need to purchase your own power bank and you can pop this in the pouch on the interior of the case. We were a bit disappointed that excluding the power bank pouch, there are no other small interior pockets for organization.

Delsey Paris Cruise 3.0 Hardside Durability and Materials

Delsey Paris Cruise 3.0 Hardside Material
This hardside carry-on is made from durable polycarbonate. Image Credit: Amar Hussain

This hardside luggage collection is made from durable polycarbonate and has a curved textured finish that is scratch-resistant. Not only will the hard textured shell withstand the heavy hand of an airport baggage handler, but it looks fantastic, too.

There are no exterior compartments on the Delsey Cruise 3.0, so you’ll need to carry your passport and travel documents in a separate personal item. This could be slipped over the telescopic handle, should your personal item have a luggage sleeve.

Delsey Paris Cruise 3.0 Hardside Wheels

The wheels roll smoothly and maneuver well on a variety of surfaces. Image Credit: Amar Hussain

The dual-density spinner wheels are truly impressive, and in true Delsey style, they’re not just functional, but are stylish, too.

Delsey Cruise 3.0 Hardside Noisy Wheels
The wheels were a bit noisy on uneven surfaces. Image Credit: Amar Hussain

Rolling the case on a variety of surfaces, we were impressed at how smoothly it glides around. We did find the wheels to be a bit noisy on uneven surfaces but they were a lot quieter rolling on flat surfaces.

Delsey Paris Cruise 3.0 Hardside Handles

This case has handles on the top and side that have a gel-like underside for comfortable carrying. We did find that the handles were tightly pressed against the case, so can squash your fingers a little bit.

This case only has handles on the top and side of the bag for carrying. Image Credit: Amar Hussain

There’s no actual bottom handle, but the hard shell is indented to help with lifting it in and out of the overhead compartment.

The telescoping handle extends to 3 heights using the button on the top, so this is adjustable depending on your height. Unfortunately, we didn’t find the handle to be particularly smooth when operating, but it does feel sturdy when fully extended.

Delsey Paris Cruise 3.0 Hardside Lock and Zips

There’s an integrated TSA combination lock on the exterior of the case for locking the main compartment. It’s quick and easy to use by clipping in the zipper pulls and setting your 3-digit PIN.

The double zippers are smooth-running and have metal zipper pulls that seem unnecessarily large for this case. We like the way that Delsey has matched the zipper pulls, telescopic handle, and wheel trims with a classy rose gold finish on this colorway.

Warranty and Customer Service

The Delsey Cruise 3.0 Hardside collection comes with a limited 5-year warranty, should your case have any manufacturing defects. You can register your case online to keep a record of your warranty, or you can simply present your proof of purchase when attempting to make a claim.

Other Delsey Paris Cruise 3.0 Hardside Luggage

To complete the set, there’s also a medium and large checked suitcase and a trunk available in the Delsey Cruise 3.0 collection. Excluding their individual size differences, each case has a similar specification.

All versions of the collection have the same interior packing features. Only the carry-on has a USB charging port, and the checked bags all have a handy built-in weight indicator on the top handle.

Final Thoughts

Delsey thoughtfully considers the wants and needs of its customers for every suitcase that it designs. With the Delsey Cruise 3.0 Hardside Carry-on, it’s prioritized a stylish, durable design with the ability to stay connected on the move. While the interior pockets are lacking, every inch of the interior space will be appreciated by those who use packing cubes to stay organized.

The matching accents across the bag are Delsey’s classic attention to detail and style, but we do wish the carry handles had a bit more slack to accommodate those with larger hands.
