Travelers looking to use points for a hotel stay in Riga, Latvia’s charming capital, may stumble on the AC Hotel Riga and wonder what it’s like.

Among Marriott’s hotel brands, AC Hotels isn’t the most luxurious, and the elite perks available at this brand can be confusing. However, this property ranks highly among the AC Hotels I’ve stayed at, staff at the front desk and restaurant were friendly, and my room was excellent.

I spent 2 nights at this property in late October 2025. Here are 6 things you should know about the AC Hotel Riga in case you’re eyeing it for an upcoming trip.

Booking AC Hotel Riga

The AC Hotels brand is one of the many Marriott hotel brands, and these properties participate in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty rewards program.

For my 2-night stay at the AC Hotel Riga in late October 2025, the standard room rate was $92 per night, inclusive of taxes. At this price, there were options for a room with either 1 king or 2 twin beds.

Alternatively, it was possible to book these rooms for 29,500 points (covering the 2 nights). Redeeming Marriott Bonvoy points here wasn’t a good deal, and I opted to pay for my stay. Using 29,500 points to save $185 meant using points at 0.63 cents apiece — below our average valuation of Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.7 cents each.

AC Hotel Riga also offered premium rooms, such as the Executive room, which was the upgraded room type I received at check-in. It cost $175 per night, and a 1 Bedroom Suite cost $265 per night.

After selecting a room type, the website presented various payment options. These included flexible rates, prepaid rates, rates with breakfast included, and the discounted rate for those with the Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card, which offered the cheapest rate during my stay.

By holding the Marriott Bonvoy Business card, I saved $4 per night, saving roughly 4.2% on my stay.

Marriott Bonvoy Elite Benefits at AC Hotels

Those with Marriott Bonvoy elite status receive different benefits at the various Marriott hotel brands. Those with Platinum Elite status or higher get a choice of a welcome gift at AC Hotels: 500 bonus points or a $10 daily food and beverage credit.

At properties in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, the $10 food and beverage credit applies to the guest and up to 1 extra guest in the room, and it doesn’t roll over from day to day.

Thus, the breakfast at AC Hotel Riga wasn’t complimentary during my stay. Using the $10 daily credit against a buffet that cost roughly $21 left me paying $11 for breakfast each morning.

The credit could also be used for lunch or dinner at the restaurant or for minibar items in the room.

6 Things You Should Know About the AC Hotel Riga

From the rooms to the onsite amenities and breakfast offerings, here are the 6 most important things to know about this property.

1. Rooms Are Clean and Modern

Let’s start with the most important part of your hotel stay: the room. I found my room to be comfortable, even if it wasn’t overly stylish.

I received an upgrade to an Executive room at check-in, thanks to my Titanium Elite status. The sleeping area had a comfortable king bed, 4 pillows (which combined offered a modicum of support), a bench at the foot of the bed, and a panel on each side of the bed with outlets, USB-A ports, and light switches. Each side of the bed also had a lamp and a reading light on an adjustable arm.

The Executive room also had a small sitting area with a wooden coffee table and a rug. There was a leather sofa that also folded into a bed. Other amenities included a wooden table with chairs, a TV, and a minibar. The coffee and tea supplies were complimentary, though items in the fridge weren’t. A price list was available for reference.

Near the room’s entrance was a bright bathroom that was equal parts useful and simple. The toilet was on the right, while the sink and a large mirror were on the left. I appreciated the copious counter space near the sink and spacious walk-in shower at the far end. It had both a rainfall and a handheld wand.

On the bathroom counter, I found pump bottles of soap and lotion, while pump bottles in the shower held body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Spare towels were under the sink, which I appreciated.

Opposite the bathroom was a small area with a closet and a bench that I found perfect for putting on my shoes before heading out the door. The open closet had several hangers, an iron, and an ironing board. I also found slippers, a robe, a laundry bag, a price list, and a small safe. The 2 drawers held another robe, extra slippers, and individually wrapped toiletries — something I was surprised to find in the closet, rather than the bathroom.

2. The Gym Is Small but Decent

small fitness center was on the 11th floor, the hotel’s top floor. During my visit, it was open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. The gym had free weights and a multifunction weight machine at one end, while cardio equipment lined the windows in the center. At the left end of the gym, there was equipment for performing body-weight exercises, such as pull-ups and leg raises.

The gym also had wipes for cleaning the equipment after use, and a water cooler was available. I didn’t see any towels, even though there was a basket that looked like it was intended for used towels.

3. Breakfast Has Numerous Options

The hotel’s only on-site dining option was the AC Riga Lounge, located near reception on the ground floor. For those who didn’t have breakfast included in their room rate, the buffet cost €18 ($21) per adult.

Multiple seating types were available, including options that resembled a coworking station more than a dining table. More comfortable options were available with booths and padded chairs.

The breakfast buffet had a good range of options, including yogurt, pudding, fruits, juices, and various cereals. Hot dishes included bacon, several types of eggs, oatmeal, and potatoes. All dishes had signs indicating allergens.

There was also a tea and coffee station, where guests could find multiple types of milk and plant-based milk alternatives.

Those with allergies should pay close attention to the buffet items. Some dishes contained surprising ingredients, like eggs in the oatmeal and dairy in the bacon — allergens you wouldn’t normally expect to find.

Hot Tip:

The restaurant was also open for lunch and dinner. A menu was offered during these dayparts, rather than a buffet. Options included tapas, snacks, cocktails, and other light bites from noon to 11 p.m. daily.

4. There’s Parking at the Hotel

AC Hotel Riga offered on-site parking, which cost €22 ($25.60) daily. It was possible to pay at reception, which means it should code as a travel or hotel purchase on your credit card.

EV charging stations were available.

5. Pets Are Welcome

The hotel permitted pets for a nonrefundable fee of €10 ($11.60) per night per pet, up to a maximum of 2 animals per guest room. That’s a very reasonable pet fee compared to what some other hotels charge.

The hotel didn’t accept pets that weigh more than 15 kilograms (33 pounds) each.

6. Housekeeping Is Mediocre

After being out all day, I was surprised to return to my room and find housekeeping had done a very odd service in my room. The employees made the bed and gave me fresh towels (the 2 things I really couldn’t care less about), but they didn’t refill the empty tissue box or throw away the trash — including the empty water bottles and bag from the food delivery I ordered to the hotel the previous night.

When I returned, the trash was still on the table, and an inexplicable washcloth was also on the table. I wasn’t impressed with the service.

Final Thoughts

Besides the ho-hum job from housekeeping, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the AC Hotel Riga. The room was great, breakfast options were very good, and the employees I interacted with were friendly.

There weren’t any jaw-dropping moments or eye-popping amenities, but the hotel provided good value during my stay.
