I’ve flown through Orlando International Airport (MCO) numerous times, including late-night arrivals and early morning departures, but I hadn’t slept there until I booked a stay at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport. With a planned late-night arrival, spending the night at this comfortable hotel in the terminal was far more convenient than navigating a ride to Walt Disney World long after my usual bedtime.

I booked this stay with World of Hyatt points and used a Guest of Honor award to unlock elite benefits. I received a spacious patio room with an airport view. I even checked something unexpected off my travel bucket list: swimming at an airport. With a terminal location inside MCO, the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport combined practical convenience with a polished atmosphere.

Here’s what you should know if you’re considering a stay.

Booking Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport

I booked a night in a 2-queen-bed room at Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport using 23,000 World of Hyatt points. This is an award Category 5 property, and this room typically costs about $450 per night, including taxes and fees, so I got 1.9 cents per point in value. We value World of Hyatt points at 1.5 cents per point, so it was a good use of my points.

I used a Guest of Honor award on this stay, which gave me benefits including:

  • Elite check-in
  • Complimentary room upgrade
  • 4 p.m. late checkout
  • Complimentary breakfast

My room was upgraded to a 2-queen-bed room with a patio offering airport views, which typically costs about $475 per night, including taxes and fees.

Hot Tip:

If you’re booking with cash, consider using The World of Hyatt Credit Card or World of Hyatt Business Credit Card to earn more Hyatt points. You can also review our guide to the best credit cards for Hyatt loyalists.

1. It’s Inside Orlando International Airport

One of the most unique features of Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport is that it’s not just near the airport — it’s inside the main terminal building of Orlando International Airport (MCO).

The hotel is landside just above the TSA security checkpoint for gates 70 to 129.

The hotel lobby and some rooms overlook the TSA area.

The location made it ideal for meeting my best friend as she flew into the airport. She had a late-night flight, and I knew we’d rather not use a ride-sharing service or shuttle after midnight. Staying at the hotel made it easy for us to go right to sleep instead of taking a 30-minute ride to Disney World and searching for our room in a sprawling resort long after bedtime.

This hotel is also a good choice for an early morning departure, because you can go from your hotel room to security screening in just minutes — no stress about making it to the airport on time, because you’re already there.

I arrived at the airport on the Brightline train from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, which dropped me off at Terminal C in MCO. It took me less than 10 minutes to get to the hotel from the Brightline station, which was just a tram ride away. I never had to step outside, and all my friend had to do was follow the signs toward baggage claim to get to the hotel from her arrival gate.

2. It Doesn’t Feel Like You’re in an Airport

I assumed this airport hotel would feel purely functional, but the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport felt surprisingly polished. Some of the rooms open to the terminal below, and the interior hallways feature garden atriums with water features and park bench seating.

Even though it was inside the terminal, the hotel was extremely quiet. The hallways had calming water features, and it was silent in my room as long as I kept the patio door closed.

The overall layout felt more like a full-service Hyatt Regency than a quick overnight airport stay, making it more appropriate for a restful visit than a basic crash pad.

3. Upgraded Patio Rooms Have Airport Views

I booked a standard 2-queen-bed room but got an upgrade using my Guest of Honor award. I was upgraded to a 2-queen-bed room with a patio, offering airport views.

Instead of looking out over the terminal or a parking lot, I watched planes from a private patio. I could see gate activity with Southwest planes and just after takeoff, before they turned onward. It made the stay memorable and added to the excitement of spending the night in an airport hotel.

The room was spacious and comfortable, with 2 queen beds, a functional work area, a large, wall-mounted TV, a coffee station with a minifridge, plenty of outlets, and a large bathroom. There was also a small rolling table paired with a separate square seat that could function as an individual dining or work table.

The bathroom was unusual but well laid out for sharing space with my friend, and it would’ve been good for families, too. There was an outer bathroom area with a vanity and storage for luggage and hanging clothes, then a separate room with another vanity, the toilet, a shower, and a shower-tub combo. It was a flexible space that worked well for us as we got ready.

4. You Can Swim at the Airport

Aside from the extremely convenient location, my favorite feature of Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport was the outdoor pool. I didn’t have “swim at an airport” on my travel bucket list until I knew about it, but I dropped my bags and made a beeline for the pool as soon as I checked in.

I loved that it was an outdoor pool. It would have been perfectly acceptable to put the pool inside, but the rooftop outdoor vibe made it much more relaxing and restorative after hours spent traveling and indoors. It was nice to get some sun among the palm trees and stretch my legs in the fresh air without leaving the hotel — or the airport.

The airport hotel pool offered a unique experience.

The pool and deck were larger than I expected, offering plenty of room for sunbathers and kids swimming off energy before bedtime. I had hoped for a better view, imagining I’d see and hear planes overhead while swimming, but the pool didn’t seem to be near any runways. Still, there was an iconic view of the airport control tower just behind the pool.

The pool elevated the hotel from a convenient airport stay to a memorable travel experience.

5. Dining Is Worth Making Time For

The Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport features a lobby bar, a casual bar and grill, an elevated restaurant with views, and 24/7 room service.

The lobby bar, which overlooks the terminal below, is open daily from 5 p.m. to midnight, offering drinks and small plates.

Hemisphere Restaurant is on the ninth floor of the hotel and has a glass wall with dramatic runway views. It’s open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m., including happy hour from 5 to 6:30 p.m. with bites including burrata, mushroom toast, and a smoked old-fashioned.

McCoy’s Bar & Grill, named after the airport’s history as McCoy Air Force Base, features all-day dining with around-the-clock menus spanning breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night, and overnight. There’s also a sushi bar each day from 5 to 11 p.m. The overnight menu, available from midnight to 7 a.m., is particularly flexible for late arrivals or early departures, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner selections.

Menu items from McCoy’s Bar & Grill are available to go or as room service 24 hours a day, which is helpful for late-night arrivals and early departures.

My friend and I visited McCoy’s Bar & Grill for breakfast, which was free with my Guest of Honor award. We had the choice of a breakfast buffet or ordering off the menu, and we opted for the buffet.

The selections were solid, with warm sticky buns and several hot plates, including scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, and our favorite: crème brûlée French toast. The cold spread was tasty, too, with sliced meats, thick smoked salmon, cheese, and fruit. Cereals, pastries, a top-your-own oatmeal bar, and yogurt parfaits were also available.

Hot Tip:

You can also leave the hotel and head into the presecurity terminal area, where there’s a Starbucks and a brewery just below the hotel, or a food court in the central terminal area with more places to eat and drink.

6. Amenities Make Odd-Hour Traveling Easier

With 24/7 room service, dining is convenient for guests even during overnight hours, when most of the airport’s restaurants are closed. It’s nice to know you can get a hot meal anytime, even late at night. There’s also no waiting for the restaurant to open up before you can eat breakfast, as you can order room service before McCoy’s usual 7 a.m. breakfast opening.

The hotel has a well-equipped fitness center with cardio machines and strength-training equipment. It was fairly small, but it had everything you’d expect at a hotel gym.

Day-use rooms are available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and include access to the hotel’s pool, fitness center, restaurants, and room service without an overnight stay. A day-use room could be good for a layover nap, recharging with a visit to the pool or gym, or a quiet place to rest and work without leaving the terminal.

7. Ride-Sharing Apps Require Terminal Pickup

There’s a covered driveway with valet on the first floor just steps away from the hotel’s central elevator. We thought it would be convenient to head down there for a ride-sharing pickup, but that didn’t work out for us.

I tried to request a Lyft from the valet entrance, but the app directed us to the terminal’s main ride-sharing pickup area instead. It was a quick walk, but it detracted from the convenience of the hotel’s drive-up entrance. We didn’t test alternatives, but you might have better luck with a private car service or taxi.

Final Thoughts

The Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport delivered exactly what I needed and more. It was a convenient place to rest after a long travel day before heading to our destination, and it offered a better experience than I expected. The quiet, comfortable room, upgraded patio with airport views, the outdoor pool, and solid dining elevate this property beyond a basic airport hotel.

If you have an early departure, a late arrival, a cruise, or a Disney World trip, this hotel can ease travel friction while offering memorable experiences.
