Though I have not stayed at many Hyatt properties during my 1-year journey in Asia, I still carry The World of Hyatt Credit Card in my wallet. The World of Hyatt card offers solid perks and benefits, though its free night certificate is the biggest reason I plan to keep it long-term.

My annual World of Hyatt free night certificate was expiring, so I thought this fall was as good a time as any to redeem it. Ultimately, I used it to book a 1-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Yokohama, a property with a perfect location in one of my favorite cities in Japan.

Here’s a look at my October 2026 stay at the Hyatt Regency Yokohama, including what stood out, what surprised me, and everything you should know before you book.

1. It Can Be Booked With a World of Hyatt Free Night Certificate

The Hyatt Regency Yokohama is a Category 3 World of Hyatt hotel, meaning that award nights start at just 8,000 points per night and can be as high as 20,000 points per night, depending on your dates. It also means that the property can be booked using the World of Hyatt card‘s Category 1-4 free night certificate.

World of Hyatt

Cash rates for the Hyatt Regency Yokohama vary slightly, though the property can be booked for around $170 per night. Since these rates are significantly higher than the World of Hyatt card’s $95 annual fee, booking this property with a free night certificate provides solid value.

According to our valuations, World of Hyatt points are worth 1.5 cents per point. If you can find dates with lower point requirements (around 8,000 World of Hyatt points), booking the Hyatt Regency Yokohama with points can provide above-average value.

2. It Has a Fantastic Location Near Many Yokohama Sites

The Hyatt Regency Yokohama is in the Yamashita Park area of Yokohama, roughly a 5-minute walk from the Yamashita Park promenade.

The property is a short walk from many of Yokohama’s tourist attractions, including Chinatown (the largest in Japan), the Yokohama Marine Tower, NYK Hikawa Maru, Osanbashi Pier, the Yokohama Doll Museum, Yokohama Bay Hall, and Yokohama Stadium.

The hotel is also a 3-minute walk from Nihon-Odori Station, a stop on the Minatomirai Line, which connects to Yokohama Station and other parts of Yokohama.

Though there is no such thing as the perfect location, I would say the Hyatt Regency Yokohama comes pretty close. So many of the city’s tourist attractions are a short walk away, making it extremely convenient to get around if you’re only in the city for a few days.

Additionally, the property’s location is excellent for those arriving at Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND). Though many travelers prefer to stay within Tokyo, the Hyatt Regency Yokohama provides a solid alternative.

3. My Room Felt Modern and Curated

Though my World of Hyatt Discoverist status did not get me an upgrade to a nicer room, the Hyatt Regency Yokohama boasted a modern and minimalist room that felt more luxurious than it was.

The property opened just over 6 years ago, but has been exceptionally well maintained and still felt relatively new during my stay. There were no visible dents on the walls or chipped paint.

The room featured an open-concept layout — one that I am a huge fan of. It was also quite spacious, especially by Japanese standards. As I entered the room, I could immediately tell that everything was well-thought-out. The massive bed, larger than a traditional king-size bed, was extremely comfortable, with high-quality linens and pillows.

Behind the bed was a gold-plated Japanese folding screen made with traditional techniques. There was a small note next to the bed stating that the hotel would charge a repair fee of ¥200,000 ($1,265) if there were any damage to the artwork.

Next to the bed was a large lounging area with a small sofa and a workstation. There was enough space for me to comfortably unpack my large suitcase. The room featured some high-end furnishings that made the whole room feel more extravagant.

Unfortunately, the room offered little in the way of a view.

The bathroom was as nice as the rest of the room. It featured a single vanity, a walk-in shower, and a deep soaking tub. The toilet was in its own room with a separate door and featured a modern Japanese bidet.

Bottom Line:

Overall, the room was quite spacious and modern. I loved how everything had a purpose, and the furniture choices were excellent, as everything felt quite luxurious.

4. There Are Several Hotel Amenities

The Hyatt Regency Yokohama boasts numerous on-site amenities, including a fully equipped 24/7 fitness center, banquet spaces, a chapel, and several meeting rooms.

The fitness center was on the small side but had a variety of cardio and strength equipment. Unless you were looking for specific machines, the gym had you covered.

5. The Property Offers Numerous Food and Beverage Venues

The Hyatt Regency Yokohama features 3 on-site dining venues, a Regency Club, and a pastry shop:

  • Milano Grill is the hotel’s Italian restaurant, which specializes in traditional Italian food with French cooking techniques.
  • Harbor Kitchen is the property’s primary breakfast venue, which features international cuisine.
  • The Union Bar & Lounge is the hotel’s lobby lounge, which serves sparkling wine, wine, cocktails, afternoon tea, and light meals.
  • Market is the hotel’s pastry shop.

The Hyatt Regency Yokohama also has a Regency Club. As a World of Hyatt Discoverist member, I did not have access to the Regency Club, but guests can expect a range of amenities and events, including afternoon tea and an evening cocktail. Guests with club access can also have breakfast at the Regency Club.

Breakfast at Harbor Kitchen

Guests without World of Hyatt Globalist status, as well as those whose room rates do not include breakfast, may have breakfast at Harbor Kitchen for ¥4,000 ($25) per person.

When I went, the breakfast buffet had an impressive selection of international and Japanese dishes. The highlight of breakfast was undoubtedly the sanma-men, a regional ramen style featuring a light, savory broth that originated in Yokohama in the late 1940s.

6. Excellent Views, if You Know Where To Look

The Hyatt Regency Yokohama also offers excellent views, though many guests may overlook them entirely without even realizing it.

On the top 2 floors of the hotel, where the property’s meeting and event venues are, floor-to-ceiling windows offer incredible views across the city and Yokohama Bay, including the Yokohama Bay Bridge and the NYK Hikawa Maru.

You can also see many buildings in the area around the hotel, including the Yokohama Marine Tower.

Many guests, particularly those with no need to see the hotel’s meeting and event venues, would miss out on this without even knowing it. I only stumbled upon the windows myself when specifically looking for places to take photos of the city.

Final Thoughts

The Hyatt Regency Yokohama is an excellent hotel in Yokohama with an ideal location. The property has a lot to offer guests, including modern rooms, a Regency Club, a few dining venues, and some incredible views.

I booked a 1-night stay at the property using a Category 1-4 Hyatt free night award, courtesy of the World of Hyatt card. I enjoy Yokohama a lot — it’s a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, and I plan to stay here again in the future, though hopefully with higher World of Hyatt elite status.
