My family and I vacation in the Turks and Caicos Islands every year, sometimes even twice yearly. It’s our happy place.

Between the vibrant Caribbean-blue waters, incredible food, and the sense of exclusivity that’s hard to find elsewhere so close to home, this slice of paradise is where we go to recharge. Since we live in South Florida, it’s almost too easy. A 90-minute flight from Miami gets us there faster than flying to Atlanta or New Orleans. We take full advantage of our proximity to this idyllic escape.

While we’ve spent plenty of time on Providenciales, the main hub of the Turks and Caicos Islands, I had never made it to South Caicos, one of the quieter, less-touristy islands.

I’ve always been curious about Sailrock South Caicos, a Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) property that is one of the most recognized and talked-about hotels in Turks and Caicos.

What’s it like to stay at Sailrock South Caicos, especially with a family? Here’s what you can expect from this remote luxury getaway.

Booking Sailrock South Caicos

If you’re planning a short getaway, stays of 4 nights or less can only be booked directly through Sailrock South Caicos, either via the hotel’s website, by email, or over the phone. If you try to search shorter stays on Hilton.com, you’ll likely see a “sold out” message, as its system only displays availability for stays of 4 nights or more.

A great perk to keep in mind when booking 4 nights or more at Sailrock South Caicos is that the resort includes round-trip island-hop flights between Providenciales (PLS) and South Caicos (XSC) — a major convenience given the hotel’s remote location.

The reservations team arranges these flights and ground transfers to and from the resortcovering each registered guest, adding significant value to your stay.

Intercaribbean Airways Plane
Sailrock South Caicos covers the cost of your 15-minute flight from Providenciales to South Caicos when you book 4 or more nights.

With only about 35 rooms, Sailrock is an intimate, luxury resort whose rates reflect its exclusive suite and villa-style accommodations. If you redeem Hilton Honors points, you’ll typically be placed in a Ridgetop Ocean View Suite.

Sailrock South Caicos Ridgetop Ocean View Suite
Standard award nights using points usually book into the Ridgetop Ocean View Suite.

This room type accommodates up to 3 guests and has a sofa bed. Rates start at 140,000 Hilton Honors points per night, or roughly $650 per night.

These suites range from 892 to 2,503 square feet, offering plenty of space and stunning views.

Even the standard room here is massive in size.

The resort also offers larger beachfront villas ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms, starting at approximately 1,800 square feet, and Peninsula Villas, set slightly apart from the main resort area for added privacy and seclusion.

Sailrock South Caicos Beachfront Villas beachside
If you need more space or want direct beach access, you can email or call to inquire about an upgrade to a beach villa.

For our stay, we were placed in a 3-bedroom beachfront villa priced at $2,600 per night — far more than I’d ever pay out of pocket.

That said, staff at Sailrock South Caicos mentioned that guests booking with points can often email or call the resort directly to inquire about upgrade pricing to an oceanfront villa or a Premier Suite, subject to availability.

For Hilton Honors members, this property offers an ideal use for a Hilton Free Night Reward certificate. You can get a certificate with the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card* or by spending $15,000 in a calendar year on the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card. You can redeem a certificate at this property as long as the room qualifies as a Standard Room Reward. You could save several hundred dollars per night, making this one of the most valuable Hilton redemptions in the Caribbean.

Location of Sailrock South Caicos

Sailrock South Caicos is tucked away on one of Turks and Caicos’ lesser-known islands, offering a level of peace and seclusion that’s hard to come by. Located on South Caicos, this luxury resort is a hidden gem far removed from the crowds of Providenciales but still easily accessible for travelers seeking a more off-the-beaten-path escape.

American Airlines launched a first-of-its-kind direct flight from Miami (MIA) to South Caicos Airport (XSC) in March 2025, simplifying the journey to South Caicos from the U.S.

Flying over South Caicos
Sailrock South Caicos guests can fly directly to the island with AA’s new nonstop flight from Miami.

The resort is a 10-minute drive from the airport, so you’ll go from runway to relaxation quickly. Alternatively, you can still fly into Providenciales (PLS) — the main international gateway to the Turks and Caicos Islands — and continue to South Caicos via a quick domestic flight or a scenic ferry ride.

What makes Sailrock’s location even more special is its unique coastal positioning. The resort is nestled between 2 stunning shorelines, with the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Caribbean Sea to the west.

Checking In

Since we’re based near Miami, we took advantage of the newly launched direct flight to South Caicos. From our front door to the entrance of Sailrock South Caicos, it took just about 4 hours. After landing at the airport, a dedicated resort driver awaited us and a few other guests. Within minutes, we were whisked away in an air-conditioned van toward the resort.

Sailrock Van Transportation
Airport transfer is complimentary and provided by the resort.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed by a friendly staff member who gave us and the other couple in our van a brief overview of the property and its location on the island.

Sailrock South Caicos Interior lobby
Arrival in paradise was a breeze with the short ride from the airport.

After a refreshing welcome drink in the open-air lobby, we waited in an open-air room just feet from the reception desk to be notified that our villa was ready.

Sailrock South Caicos Check in Waiting Area
I could wait all day with this ocean breeze flowing through the outdoor lobby.

Once our villa was clean and all set, a check-in agent reviewed the details of our stay. Then, we were quickly loaded onto a buggy with our luggage and driven to our villa.

Since Sailrock South Caicos is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection, and SLH partners with Hilton Honors, I used my Hilton Aspire card at check-in to cover incidentals, helping me earn up to 14 Hilton Honors points per dollar during our stay.

The resort’s front desk had a Small Luxury Hotels of the World sign on the wall.

3 Bedroom Beachfront Villa

After checking in, we were dropped off right at the entrance to our 3-bedroom beachfront villa. A lush, tropical pathway led us to the front door.

Sailrock South Caicos Walkway Room
Our beachfront villa’s front door was at the end of this winding, lush pathway.

Living Room

As soon as we stepped inside, we were blown away. The views alone were jaw-dropping. We could see straight through the villa to the turquoise ocean and our private pool, all framed by swaying palms and an endless sky.

Sailrock South Caicos 3 bedroom villa view
The modern beachy decor struck a perfect balance. Think Martha’s Vineyard aesthetic, but with the soul and serenity of a remote Caribbean hideaway.

In the center of the villa, the airy living room featured cozy seating, a flatscreen TV, and plenty of space for us to unwind as a family each night.

For our family of 5, the villa was spacious and thoughtfully laid out.

Bedrooms

Each of the 3 bedrooms featured a plush king-sized bed, all with an identical layout.

Each room had ultra-high ceilings, making the villas feel huge.

Bathrooms

Each room also featured a full, spacious bathroom.

Our villa had 3 full bathrooms, which meant no fighting over the shower.

A soaking tub in 2 of the 3 bathrooms was convenient for bathing our toddler.

Inside each shower were full-size toiletries from L’Occitane en Provence, the French luxury retailer of toiletry products.

A little French luxury in every wash.

Best of all, 2 of the 3 bathrooms included outdoor showers, a personal favorite amenity of mine.

Kitchen

The open-concept kitchen came fully equipped with a full-size refrigerator, oven, stovetop, and an island with an integrated sink.

All the essentials in a full kitchen with modern appliances.

A Nespresso machine was stocked with pods, cream, and sugar. Housekeeping replenished the pods daily.

Mornings started with a Nespresso in hand and a seat by the pool or beach.

We gathered for meals at the long dining table with benches beside the kitchen island.

The spacious dining table with benches had room for 6.

There was an outdoor courtyard table where we enjoyed breakfast some mornings.

Hot Tip:

An especially useful perk for families: The villa included a washer and dryer, and having that convenience during the stay was a game-changer. There was also a small on-site market for picking up essentials like laundry detergent and snacks, making longer stays even more convenient.

Private Pool and Beach Access

As the name suggests, the beachfront villa included direct access to a quiet stretch of beach via a sandy path right off the pool deck.

Sailrock South Caicos Villa pool beachside
We loved the double water views with the pool in front and the beach just beyond.

It truly felt like our own private coastline.

Sailrock South Caicos Beach
The beach was always empty — a real treat during our stay.

We visited when sargassum was present in the water, so we didn’t swim much, but the beach was still a peaceful place to relax and recharge in solitude.

The private pool was the real showstopper. Framed by a spacious deck with loungers and couches, it became the heart of our stay.

Our private pool was the perfect place to unwind and connect.

We spent countless hours swimming and sunbathing with panoramic views of the Atlantic in the background.

Sailrock South Caicos villa private pool
Those pool views? Always breathtaking, never dull.

It was everything we hoped for in a Caribbean villa, and then some.

Bottom Line:

Since we were staying in a beachfront villa with a private pool, we spent nearly all our pool time there. With loungers, couches, and unobstructed views of the Atlantic, it was the ultimate setup for relaxing, playing, and soaking in the island vibe as a family. It was hard to top the convenience and comfort of having a full-size pool just steps from our villa’s sliding glass doors.

Amenities

Sailrock South Caicos offers a true escape with access to 2 distinct beaches, private pools, and a range of upscale amenities — including an infinity pool, spa services, and water sports.

Beaches

One of Sailrock South Caicos’ most unique features is its location between 2 stunning bodies of water: the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. You get the best of both worlds.

Sailrock South Caicos Caribbean and Atlantic
The resort enjoys a unique location nestled between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

During our visit in July, the Atlantic side had darker waters and a noticeable amount of sargassum, typical during certain times of the year. Outside of this seasonal window, the Atlantic here usually delivers the clear, vibrant turquoise waters you’d expect from the Turks and Caicos.

Sailrock South Caicos Atlantic Beach side
Even with some sargassum, we loved having access to 2 beaches during our stay.

On the flip side — literally — the Caribbean Sea side was a dreamy tropical escape.

Sailrock South Caicos Beach Seating
The Caribbean beach’s ample loungers and umbrellas made it a popular guest spot.

The water was electric turquoise, calm, clear, and shallow.

Caribbean Sea beach Sailrock South Caicos
We were surrounded by magical blues everywhere we looked.

Having 2 totally different beach experiences on the same property was a major perk for us.

Pool

The resort’s main pool — located just across from the lobby and in front of the main restaurant — was beautiful. Since most of the resort’s non-villa suites don’t come with a private pool, this was where many guests gathered to swim, lounge, and unwind.

All guests could access the resort’s pool overlooking stunning Caribbean Sea views.

It was an infinity-edge pool with plenty of seating around the deck.

We stopped by one evening just to take in the view, and the sunset was spectacular.

Fitness Center

Located just below the lobby next to the resort’s small market, the fitness center was easy to access —though we hardly saw anyone using it during our stay.

The fitness center featured free weights, cardio machines, and ample space to work out without leaving the property.

Sailrock South Caicos gym equipment
The gym included treadmills, various machines, and free weights.

Bicycles

Our kids were thrilled that the resort offered complimentary bikes — not just for adults, but in kid-friendly sizes, too. We used them to explore the pathways around the property and cruise over to different beaches.

Sailrock South Caicos bicycle rental
Free bikes were outside the fitness center, with options for kids, too.

We visited the front desk to get set up with bikes and helmets. It was a great way to burn energy and enjoy the scenery together.

Excursions

Sailrock South Caicos had various excursions for an additional cost, ranging from guided snorkeling trips and bonefishing lessons to private boat charters, ecotours, and ATV adventures.

Turks and Caicos’ vibrant reefs were perfect for snorkeling, and our family loved this excursion.

We booked a boat excursion during our stay and loved it.

Our excursion stars, Ben and Marley, made it unforgettable.

Guests could stop by the excursions desk (or chat with Ben, the super-friendly excursions manager) to learn about the options.

Non-Motorized Water Sports

On the calm Caribbean Sea side of the resort, we found a hub of free non-motorized water sports. Paddleboards, snorkeling gear, Hobie Cats, and kayaks were available to borrow.

Free paddleboards, kayaks, and more on the calm Caribbean shore.

We took a guided kayak tour and paddled through shallow turquoise water to a peaceful sandbar, where we all hopped out for a swim.

One of our favorite moments was kayaking on the stunning sandbar.

Outdoor Sports

The resort had an outdoor tennis court equipped with basketball hoops. Pickleball paddles were available at the front desk.

There was also a full-size sand volleyball court, which our family discovered while biking around the property.

Spa Treatment

While there was no traditional spa building, Sailrock South Caicos had 2 serene spa cabanas overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

Sailrock’s spa huts paired massages with refreshing ocean breezes.

I booked a 75-minute massage, and it was exactly the recharge I needed.

Thanks to the perfect breeze from the hut, I fell asleep during my massage.

With the ocean breeze and rhythmic sound of the waves in the background, it felt like the ultimate “me time” moment.

Private In-Villa Chef

One splurge we definitely didn’t regret was booking the private in-villa chef for dinner one evening. It was easily one of the most memorable parts of our stay. After confirming the reservation, the chef gave us a call directly in our villa to ask about preferences for the meal.

In Room dining table Sailrock South Caicos
A standout experience: dining with a private chef in the villa.

Our daughters were craving steak, while my wife and I were hoping for something fresh and local. The chef let us know that grouper had just come in that day, so we went with that — and we’re so glad we did.

My wife and I enjoyed perfectly prepared wild-caught grouper, made right in our villa by a talented chef.

That evening, the chef arrived at our villa along with Katherine, a warm and professional server who was fantastic with our toddler.

Katherine was exceptional, ensuring a first-class dining experience and doubling as a baby whisperer.

They prepared and served a full gourmet meal right at our in-villa kitchen, giving us all the flavor and flair of fine dining without leaving the comfort of our space.

Chef Romario delivered an exceptional culinary experience.

Between the fresh seafood, perfectly cooked steak, and thoughtful service, it felt like a 5-star restaurant in the privacy of our villa. This experience was both convenient and magical.

Dressing up? Nah. Bathing suits and full plates made dinner a hit with my 3 daughters.

It was definitely worth the splurge.

Market

One thing we appreciated as a family was the resort’s small on-site lobby market. It came in clutch for sunscreen, extra snacks for the kids, and Sailrock-branded apparel to make life easier during our stay.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi was complimentary for Hilton Honors members and worked well inside our villa — perfect for streaming cartoons or video-calling grandparents. However, the signal dropped significantly closer to the beach and when we left the villa, which was understandable given the remote location. It made it easier to unplug and enjoy distraction-free family time.

Sailrock Wi Fi
We had good in-room Wi-Fi, but outdoor coverage was hit or miss.

Food and Beverages

Sailrock South Caicos has 2 on-site restaurants featuring fresh, locally inspired cuisine, plus the option for in-room dining.

Great House Restaurant + Bar

The Great House Restaurant & Bar is Sailrock South Caicos’ primary dining venue, just steps from the lobby with unbeatable views of the Caribbean Sea.

SailRock Great House
The Great House is the resort’s central dining spot for breakfast, dinner, and room service.

This is where guests enjoy breakfast each morning, and it’s also open for dinner. The relaxed yet elegant atmosphere works well for couples and families.

Dinner offers a great mix of seafood, beef, chicken, vegetarian options, plus a kids menu.

One evening, after a long day of sun, sand, and outdoor adventures, the rest of the family was wiped out. I headed to dinner with one of my daughters while everyone else stayed back to relax in the villa.

Sailrock South Caicos Dinner Great House
Great food and even better sunsets.

She ordered a pasta dish, while I went for the chicken teriyaki skewers, which were perfectly tender and packed with flavor. Having consumed a lot of seafood during our trip, the chicken provided a refreshing change.

The chicken yakitori skewers were surprisingly tender and delicious.

But what made the evening special was the view. As we sat there eating, the sun began to set over the Caribbean, painting the sky in rich shades of orange, pink, and purple.

Our breakfasts were also consistently fresh and flavorful, with kid-friendly options like eggs with bacon, pancakes, and cereal also available each morning.

The Cove Restaurant + Beach Bar

The Cove is Sailrock South Caicos’ more casual beachfront restaurant, and it quickly became one of our family’s favorite places to dine.

Open for lunch and dinner, this open-air spot is right on the sand and offers gorgeous views of the Caribbean Sea, especially at sunset.

A glass of wine and watching the kids play made for a relaxing moment.

We stopped in for a leisurely dinner and were immediately impressed by the friendly, attentive service. We ordered a spread of local seafood favorites — conch fritters, conch salad, and cracked conch — all fresh and flavorful.

No trip to Turks and Caicos is complete without ordering conch.

For our toddler, the pizza was a hit, and it was great to see kid-friendly options on the menu.

Pizza for our toddler was clutch in case she skipped the conch and grouper.

What really sets the Cove apart for families is the laid-back setting. While we sipped wine and enjoyed our meal, our kids played in the sand just a few feet away, tossing beanbags at the cornhole boards, collecting seashells, and exploring the shoreline.

Sailrock South Caicos beach games
Beach games just steps from the dining tables at the Cove.

It felt effortless and peaceful, the kind of dinner experience where everyone gets to unwind.

In-Room Dining

In theory, ordering in-room dining at Sailrock South Caicos was easy. We used a QR code to pull up the menu, then ordered food by messaging the front desk via WhatsApp.

Sailrock South Caicos room service
Jerk chicken wings were ordered through WhatsApp for room service and showed up within 30 minutes.

That said, the process could use a little fine-tuning. On 2 separate occasions, my order wasn’t quite right — nothing major, but it seemed like some details got lost in translation over messaging. With such a small number of guests on property, it could be easier just to pick up the phone and place your order directly with the front desk. Hopefully, the digital system will become more seamless with time.

Service

“Exceptional service” is often mentioned in hotel reviews, but it truly means something at Sailrock South Caicos. From the moment we arrived, we felt more like personal guests of the resort than just another booking.

Staff members greeted us by name, and by the next day, it felt like everyone on the property knew not only our names but also our kids’ names. This was also evident among other guests, not just my family. That kind of warm, personalized hospitality makes a difference, especially when traveling as a family.

We also noticed that the level of attentiveness extended across the entire team. We frequently saw Andre, the resort’s general manager, casually walking around the property, checking in with guests, and chatting at restaurants or in the lobby.

That kind of presence at the top is an excellent sign that every department is aligned around making sure guests are comfortable, cared for, and completely at ease. It’s that personal touch that made our stay feel special.

Final Thoughts

Our stay at Sailrock South Caicos was exactly what we needed — a chance to slow down, recharge, and connect as a family. Between the jaw-dropping turquoise waters, soft white-sand beaches, and peaceful atmosphere, it felt like our own little slice of paradise.

The villa was spacious and comfortable, the service was incredibly attentive, and the food was consistently delicious. Every detail just worked. This place exceeded all our expectations, and I’m already looking forward to returning.
