The Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card from Chase delivers on all fronts for business owners: low annual fee, huge rewards potential, and best of all, a generous welcome offer.

Over the years, the Ink Business Preferred card’s welcome offer has shifted quite a bit. Let’s take a closer look at the best bonus offer we’ve seen since 2020, along with the overall range of welcome offers that have been available during that time.

When To Apply for the Ink Business Preferred Card

Chase Ultimate Rewards points are among the most highly valued award currencies, and we estimate their worth to be 2 cents apiece. Right now, eligible new applicants of the Ink Business Preferred card can score this public welcome offer:

  • Earn 100,000 bonus points after you spend $8,000 on purchases in the first 3 months.

If used strategically for travel redemptions, the current welcome offer can deliver $2,000 in rewards value. But is this the best welcome offer available on the Ink Business Preferred card? We’ll review its welcome offer history since 2020 in the chart below:

Chase Ultimate Rewards

To put things in perspective, the more pricey Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ has the following welcome offer:

  • Earn 150,000 bonus points after you spend $20,000 in your first 3 months and access more than $6,000 in total business and travel value in your first year.

Although you’d earn more bonus points, there’s a larger minimum spending requirement, as well. Not only that, but the annual fee of $795 makes the Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card a better match for high-spending businesses. On the other hand, the Ink Business Preferred card makes more financial sense for the vast majority of business owners.

Ink Business Preferred Card Benefits

With a $95 annual fee, the Ink Business Preferred card earns 5x points on Lyft rides (through September 30, 2027); 3x points on up to $150,000 in combined purchases on internet, cable and phone services, shipping expenses, travel, and ads purchased with search engines or social media sites; and 1x points on all other eligible purchases.

The Ink Business Preferred card is a step above the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card and the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card with greater rewards potential. Here are the other benefits you can expect on the Ink Business Preferred card:

  • Add additional employee cards to your account for no additional cost.
  • You get cell phone protection, purchase protection, trip cancellation and interruption insurance, primary rental car insurance for business purposes, and extended warranty coverage.
  • Pool your Chase Ultimate Rewards points with other Chase rewards cards.
Hot Tip:

The Ink Business Preferred card often flies under the radar compared to the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, or even the newer Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card. Although it doesn’t carry the Sapphire name, the Ink Business Preferred card has full access to Chase’s transfer partners — and arguably offers better rewards rates on business purchases than any of those cards.

Final Thoughts

The Ink Business Preferred card has offered welcome bonus offers ranging from 90,000 to 120,000 points over the past 6 years. Though you could wait for a better welcome offer to come around, the 3x earning potential on the card would let you, as a business owner, collect points for long-term use beyond an introductory bonus.
