The good news? The minimum spending threshold is pretty low, and the spending timeframe has stayed steady at 6 months. Do note, however, that the bonus offer amount changes every few months or so.

If you prefer to earn your welcome offer entirely in Hilton Honors points, such an opportunity will likely come back in a few months. We’ve only seen the $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $150 annual fee for the first year waived once in the past few years, so that could be another great opportunity if you’re on the fence about paying an annual fee during the first year of card membership.

The 130,000-point bonus offer is the standard, so anything above this benchmark is stellar. However, whenever a Free Night Reward is involved, it can be worth as many as 250,000 points per night. This is an amazing sweet spot for the most sought-after hotels and resorts in Hilton’s portfolio.

If you’re not familiar with Hilton free night certificates, they can be used for any night priced as a standard reward room.

When searching Hilton properties with points, you’ll see eligible nights labeled “Standard Room Reward,” meaning you can redeem your certificate regardless of the cash price. (If it’s listed as a “Premium Room Reward,” you won’t be able to apply that award.)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Hilton Surpass card's welcome offer?

This is the current publicly available welcome offer:

  • Enjoy a $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $150 and earn 130,000 bonus points after you spend $3,000 in purchases within your first 6 months of Card Membership. Offer ends 7/29/26.
What is the best Hilton Honors Surpass card welcome offer?

In our view, earning a combination of points (typically 130,000 bonus points) and a Free Night Reward is the best welcome offer on the Hilton Surpass card. Hilton Free Night Rewards can be used for any award night with standard room reward availability, which can cost as high as 250,000 points.

How much are 130,000 Hilton Honors points worth?

Hilton Honors points are usually worth 0.5 cents apiece, so you can expect to receive around $650 in value from your redemption.

Is the Hilton Honors Surpass card free night bonus offer worth it?

Yes, because it adds potentially up to 250,000 points in value from any property that has standard room reward availability. Consider using these awards for top properties like the Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, in Hawaii, or the Conrad Tokyo.
