Targeted Chase Mailings

Do you quickly throw away all of those credit card mailers you receive? You should think twice about that if you want to track down the best bonus possible. The reason for this is that Chase occasionally sends out targeted offers via mail that are better than the public offers on its website!

If you don’t ever receive any sort of credit card mailings from Chase, you most likely have opted out of receiving targeted mailings. To change this, log into your Chase account, click Profile, then Settings. Once there you’ll want to click Marketing Preferences and then click Yes to receive special offers from Chase.

CardMatch

Another quick and easy way to check for targeted credit card bonus offers is by using a free tool called CardMatch. CardMatch allows users to enter their name, address, and the last four digits of their Social Security number, and then matches them for any targeted credit card offers that they’re eligible for.

Not only does CardMatch check for targeted bonus offers, but users can also see whether or not they’re pre-approved for any given card offer. Keep in mind that that being pre-approved for a card does not guarantee you’ll be approved — it merely increases the likelihood of your approval.

Put simply, we recommend regularly checking CardMatch for increased bonus offers, especially before applying for a new card, because it is free and safe to use, and does not perform a hard pull on your credit report.

Hot Tip: If you’d like more information on CardMatch, have a read through our guide on how to get personalized offers through the CardMatch tool.

Reasons You May Not Be Able to Get a Higher Welcome Offer

Low Credit Score

If your credit score isn’t high enough to be approved for the Marriott Boundless card, then it doesn’t make much of a difference how great the bonus offer is.

If you suspect that your score might not be high enough to get approved for the card, then you should first focus on improving your credit score.

Chase’s 5/24 Rule

If you’ve spent any sort of time in the points and miles hobby, you probably more than familiar with the Chase 5/24 rule. But for those who have not, the Chase 5/24 rule makes it so that applicants will only be approved for the vast majority of Chase’s credit cards if they’ve opened less than 5 new credit cards in the last 24 months.

Bear in mind that the Chase 5/24 rule predominately applies to new personal credit cards. This means business credit cards from most issuers (except Capital One) or other types of credit are not counted towards your 5/24 total.

You’ve Opted Out of Marketing Offers

This one is about as uncomplicated as it gets. If you don’t opt-in to marketing offers from Chase, it can’t send them, meaning you won’t receive any targeted mailers that could contain increased bonus offers.

Final Thoughts

If Marriott is your favorite hotel chain, or you frequent its hotels with any sort of regularity, then it can make a lot of sense to add a Marriott co-branded card to your wallet. With benefits like a free night each year, automatic Silver Elite status, and 15 elite night credits, you’re almost certain to come out ahead.

If you think the Marriott Boundless card makes sense for you, make sure you follow the tips in this guide to ensure you get the best bonus possible!
