As of Today, American Airlines Has Raised Admirals Club Membership Prices … by a Lot

American Airlines has overhauled how it sells Admirals Club memberships, and for most travelers, the math doesn’t work in their favor.

As of today, August 23, 2026, the airline has dropped its old tiered pricing based on status, removed household memberships entirely, and rolled out 2 options in their place.

What Changed With Admirals Club Pricing?

Previously, your membership price depended on your AAdvantage status. A general member payed $850 for a new individual membership or $800 to renew, and those numbers reduced to $750 and $700 for Executive Platinum flyers. Household memberships previously cost between $1,550 and $1,650.

That structure has disappeared as of August 23. In its place, American is now selling a full Admirals Club membership — the one that gets you and up to 2 guests into more than 100 Admirals Club and partner lounges — for $1,400 for a general member or $1,200 for Executive Platinum. Compared to the old individual rate, that’s a jump of roughly $550 for most people.

There is a new, cheaper option. The single membership costs a flat $750 no matter your status, but it only covers you, and it only opens the doors to about 50 Admirals Club lounges — no partner lounges included. Household memberships are gone; current enrollments remain valid through their term, and then you’ll pick from the new menu.

Is It Worth the New Price?

For a solo traveler who never brings guests and sticks to American’s own lounges, the $750 single membership is the smart choice, and it’s close to what many people paid before.

The full $1,400 membership is a tougher decision. You’re paying a big premium for guest access and the partner network, so it only makes sense if you regularly travel with family or lean on partner lounges.

The smarter play for many flyers is to skip the standalone membership altogether. The Citi^® / AAdvantage^® Executive World Legend Mastercard^® includes a full Admirals Club membership as a card benefit.

That card also got a major overhaul as of today, August 23, adding new perks, a slightly different name, and a new annual fee of $695. It will still offer an Admirals Club membership as an annual perk, though — including up to 2 guests.
