Chase has launched a new and innovative transfer bonus specifically for those who hold the Aeroplan® Credit Card.
Here are the details of this new bonus, and how you can take advantage of it when booking upcoming award travel.
The 10% bonus is available through December 31, 2023, so you don’t need to jump the gun or transfer speculatively. A drawback is that you’re required to transfer at least 50,000 Ultimate Rewards points each time, which means it won’t be useful for anyone simply looking to top off their Aeroplan account.
Further, while Ultimate Rewards points typically transfer to Aeroplan almost instantly, the 10% bonus points will post as a separate transaction, and they’ll take anywhere from 72 hours up to a week to complete.
Finally, there’s a maximum of 25,000 bonus Aeroplan points per year, which would require you to transfer 250,000 Ultimate Rewards points to reach that bonus number.
How To Take Advantage of This Bonus
Let’s take a look at a few scenarios that would represent a great way to leverage this bonus.
ANA Business Class to Japan
You can fly in ANA’s incredible business class cabin between Seattle (SEA) and Tokyo (NRT) for just 55,000 Aeroplan points one-way. However, thanks to the 10% transfer bonus, you’d only need to transfer 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to make this booking possible.
Lufthansa First Class to Frankfurt
Lufthansa offers one of the best first class experiences in the world, and you can try it out yourself between New York (JFK) and Frankfurt (FRA) for just 90,000 Aeroplan points, which means you’d have to transfer just 82,000 Ultimate Rewards points thanks to the bonus.
Hot Tip: Air Canada’s Aeroplan program is very useful for booking premium cabin tickets with low taxes and fees. You’ll definitely want to check out some of our other favorite ways to redeem Aeroplan points.
Final Thoughts
This is certainly a unique transfer bonus opportunity, and potentially could be a sign of further bonuses to come with Chase.
It’s also a huge win for Aeroplan cardholders, as their card just got significantly more valuable overnight, assuming they also have a premium Chase Ultimate Rewards card to pair with it.
Again, with an expiration date of December 31, 2023, this transfer bonus is here for the long run, so be sure to keep it in the back of your mind when planning any upcoming Aeroplan award bookings.
