There’s some good news just in for Miami (MIA) — an airport known for its mediocre lounge offerings.

Air France is the latest airline to announce it will open a new state-of-the-art premium space for its passengers at the airport.

Air France’s New Lounge at Miami

Air France is investing in its passenger experience in the U.S. with a new lounge at Miami International Airport. The news comes soon after American Airlines announced it will invest in its lounge offering at the airport.

This update was confirmed in an email containing the agenda for an upcoming Miami Airport committee meeting, as spotted by One Mile at a Time.

Miami will become the seventh U.S. airport to boast an Air France lounge, joining Boston (BOS), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK), San Francisco (SFO), and Washington (IAD). The lounge will be located on level 3 of Concourse H.

The lounge’s grand opening is currently scheduled for some time in 2028 so we’ll have to curb our excitement for now. Until then, Air France passengers will have to make do with the Delta Sky Club — the lounge currently used by Air France’s premium cabin and elite passengers.

Details of exactly how the lounge will look and feel have yet to be revealed. However, according to the plans drawn up for the proposal, the space will cover approximately 7,400 square feet and feature a 1,000-square-foot outdoor terrace. Once opened, the Air France lounge will be the only airport lounge in Miami with an outdoor space.

We’d also expect the lounge to feature a dedicated area for first-class passengers, as Air France deploys its La Première-equipped jets on its route to Miami.

Air France’s lounges are usually aesthetically pleasing and offer a great selection of top-quality food and drinks, even at U.S. outstations.

Air France currently operates a single daily flight to Miami during the summer period, which then increases to twice daily during winter.

Hot Tip:

Air France is a great option to consider when planning a trip across the Atlantic to France or elsewhere in Europe. Air France Business class redemptions using Flying Blue miles start at 60,000 miles one-way per person.

Final Thoughts

It’s no secret that the Miami Airport lags well behind many of the major U.S. airports when it comes to lounges. With the arrival of Air France’s new lounge space in 2028, that should change for the better.
