The Delta One Experience Is Getting an Upgrade

Delta will start training its army of flight attendants on how to deliver its upcoming revolutionized Delta One experience. The new service elements and catering will be introduced on some transpacific routes from Los Angeles (LAX) this fall. These soft product enhancements come ahead of the delivery of Delta’s first A350-1000, which will feature all-new Delta One suites.

Nashville Airport Could Be Renamed After Dolly Parton

After this week’s sad passing of the great Dolly Parton, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, together with Nashville International Airport (BNA), are proposing to rename the airport in her honor.

United Airlines’ Seattle Club Gets a Glow Up

Construction of a new state-of-the-art United Club is about to begin at Seattle (SEA). United’s move from Concourse A to Concourse B is behind the new 7,181-square-foot space, which is likely to open in late 2027 or early 2028. The new United Club will take over the former Centurion Lounge, spanning 2 floors and boasting airport views through floor-to-ceiling windows.

American Airlines Introduces New Main Cabin Snacks

From early October, Tate’s Bake Shop chocolate chip cookies and Peterson’s savory and sweet snack mix will be added to American‘s Main Cabin inflight snack offering. Passengers on morning flights will have the option of a Biscoff cookie or Goldfish, while new additions Tate’s Bake Shop cookies, Peterson’s snack mix, and Goldfish will be offered on afternoon flights.

Some United Economy Redemptions With Aeroplan Are Increasing

It’s never a good sign when loyalty programs switch to dynamic pricing, as it almost always increases redemption costs for passengers. An example from Live and Let’s Fly shows the average cost of an economy redemption on a United flight from Los Angeles to Chicago has increased from 15,000 to 17,500 Aeroplan points.

Volaris Intends To Add 7 Unique U.S. Routes From Guadalajara

Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris wants to significantly increase its U.S. route network. It’s proposing 7 new nonstop routes from Guadalajara (GDL) to Austin (AUS), Boston (BOS), Minneapolis (MSP), Nashville (BNA), Philadelphia (PHL), Raleigh (RDU), and Tampa (TPA). If approved, Volaris would be the only airline to operate the routes, providing exciting new connectivity for those living on both sides of the border.

Coming Soon: Turkish Airlines’ New Business Class

According to reports from Turkish media, the country’s flag carrier should finally debut its “Crystal” business class product soon. The first aircraft to boast the suites, which Turkish chose to manufacture itself, will be Airbus A350-900s that Turkish expects to receive in November. Turkish also plans to install the new Crystal business class suites on its existing Boeing 777-300s that currently feature a very outdated 2-3-2 business class configuration.

Qantas Brings Forward Airbus A380 Retirement

It’s been a turbulent time for the Airbus A380 since the pandemic, and time is nearly up for Qantas‘ 10 superjumbos. Their retirement date has been brought forward to 2028, 4 years sooner than originally planned.

The jets will be replaced by Qantas’ order of smaller Airbus A350-1000s that have around 50% fewer seats. As a result, airfares on the ex-A380 routes, including from Australia to Dallas (DFW) and Los Angeles (LAX), are likely to increase.

SWISS Will Open New Lounges at Zurich Next Year

Two new lounges are coming to SWISS‘ main international hub in Zurich (ZRH). A reimagined Business and Senator lounge with a combined area of 2,600 square meters (almost 28,000 square feet) will open in Dock B in the first few months of 2027. They’ll feature floor-to-ceiling windows boasting airport and alpine views.

Final Thoughts

We talk a lot about “newness” this week, highlighting the ever-evolving and almost cyclical nature of airports and airlines. Just as one new cabin rolls out, another is announced that makes it outdated. The same can be said for lounges, and even some airports — one of which will hopefully be renamed after Dolly Parton soon.
