Alaska Expands on the West Coast

Alaska Airlines is expanding service at Anchorage (ANC) and Portland (PDX), with the launch of 7 new routes coming in 2026.

These include some exciting new options, such as summer seasonal routes to popular destinations like Jackson Hole, Wyoming (JAC), and the only nonstop service between Anchorage and Boston (BOS).

Here’s a look at what’s on tap from Alaska:

Alaska called the 2 cities “essential airports” in the airline’s growing global network.

“The state of Alaska remains high on the wish list of travelers, especially in the summer months, and we’re excited to add new nonstops to get them there,” said Kirsten Amrine, Alaska’s vice president of revenue management and network planning. “Portland is not only a great city to visit, but we also offer convenient nonstop connections for those continuing their travel across our wide network.”

The new flights begin as early as March; however, most start in June. Flights are now on sale, with tickets between Anchorage and Boston starting at close to $500 round-trip.

Alaska’s Big Year

It’s been a busy few months for Alaska Airlines.

Earlier this fall, the airline announced 2 new European destinations from Seattle (SEA): London Heathrow (LHR) and Reykjavik, Iceland (KEF). Alaska also announced Rome (FCO) as its first European destination over the summer. The airline also plans to bolster service across the U.S. next year, with 13 new routes kicking off in the spring.

Of course, that’s not all the exciting news from Alaska. The airline also merged with Hawaiian Airlines, and Hawaiian will join the Oneworld alliance — of which Alaska is a member — next year.

Final Thoughts

Alaska Airlines will add 7 new flights from Anchorage and Portland, which include some pretty exciting routes that should be popular during the summer months. This is excellent news, as the airline looks to grow even more in 2026.
