Alaska Airlines has previously mentioned its intention to launch a premium credit card in the summer of 2025.

The airline is staying true to its word, and we now have a few details surrounding the new card’s offerings. One is the ability to pre-register interest in the card and earn up to 5,500 bonus miles for doing so.

Let’s take a look at everything we know.

The Details — Alaska’s New Premium Credit Card

We still don’t know everything that the new Alaska Airlines premium card will offer, but the airline has shared a few noteworthy details surrounding the earning structure and perks of the card:

  • Earn 3x miles on all eligible foreign purchases and on all eligible dining purchases
  • Global Companion Award certificates
  • Waived award ticket fees
  • Alaska Lounge passes
  • Wi-Fi vouchers
  • Accelerated paths to elite status
  • Same-day confirmed fee waivers
  • Annual fee of $395

At the moment, these announced benefits and perks do sound exciting, especially the ability to earn 3x miles on foreign transactions, Global Companion Award certificates, and waived award ticket fees.

That said, it does leave us with a handful of questions like whether the Global Companion Award certificates will be limited to economy tickets, whether the waived award ticket fees will also apply to partner awards, and what exactly “accelerated paths to elite status” will look like.

Still, the benefits currently announced are promising and appear to be competitive with those of other premium airline cards.

Hot Tip:

Alaska also recently announced significant changes to its Mileage Plan Loyalty Program for 2025, including changes to upgrades, how elite status is earned, and more.

Pre-Register and Earn up to 5,500 Bonus Miles

While the card will not launch until the summer of 2025, Alaska is giving those who are interested in the new premium card the opportunity to pre-register on this page.

If you join the early-access list, you will get an exclusive link to apply for the new premium credit card when it launches. Plus, you’ll earn 500 miles when you pre-register by Dec. 31, 2024.

Then, those who pre-register can use an exclusive link to apply. If approved, they’ll receive an additional 5,000 bonus miles, for a total of 5,500 bonus miles. We value Alaska miles at 1.6 cents per mile, making 5,500 miles worth $88 based on that valuation.

Note that the 5,500 bonus miles will be in addition to whatever welcome bonus offer launches with the card. Further, pre-registering does not lock you into applying for the card, so there is no downside to you doing so.

Final Thoughts

While we continue to eagerly await more details surrounding Alaska’s new premium card, what’s been announced thus far is undoubtedly intriguing.

If you think there is a slight chance you will want to add the new premium Alaska Airlines card to your wallet when it’s released, you might as well pre-register before December 31, 2024, to take advantage of the additional 5,500 bonus miles.
