Alaska Airlines previously announced its intention to launch a premium credit card in the summer of 2025.

The airline is staying true to its word, and we now have a few details surrounding the new card’s offerings. And since we’re already in the summer of 2025, every indication is that the Alaska Airlines premium credit card will arrive next month — August.

Let’s take a look at everything we know.

Details of Alaska Airlines’ New Premium Credit Card

Full details aren’t available yet, but Alaska Airlines is teasing its new premium credit card at this landing page. It says the card is coming “summer 2025.” We’re near the end of July and fully immersed in summer, so this card should launch soon.

The plan to launch this new card was first announced in December of 2024. Since then, we’ve learned a few new details about the card:

  • 3x Mileage Plan miles on foreign purchases outside the U.S.
  • 3x miles on dining, bars, nightclubs, and fast food restaurants
  • Global Companion Award certificates
  • Waived award ticket fees
  • Alaska Lounge passes
  • Wi-Fi vouchers
  • Accelerated paths to elite status
  • Same-day confirmed fee waivers
  • Annual fee of $395

At the moment, these announced benefits and perks do sound exciting, especially the ability to earn 3x miles on foreign transactions, Global Companion Award certificates, and waived award ticket fees.

That said, it does leave us with a handful of questions like whether the Global Companion Award certificates will be limited to economy tickets, whether the waived award ticket fees will also apply to partner awards, and what exactly “accelerated paths to elite status” will look like.

Still, the benefits currently announced are promising and appear to be competitive with those of other premium airline cards.

Putting This Into Context: Alaska Airlines Changes

Since this card was first announced in December of 2024, a lot has happened. Here’s a quick overview to put this card into the context of all that’s happening:

It’s been a busy year for Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. It’s set to continue being busy for the next few months as we see this new premium credit card come into the market.

Understanding where this fits into the context of Alaska-Hawaiian is important, because you’ll be earning miles and perks that will be part of the new, revamped award program — a program we don’t have the full details of right now.

Plus, the airlines are launching new routes and teasing even more news to come. The companion fare that works on this expanded route network or miles redeemable in this new program sound exciting — so long as the program doesn’t change for the worse during the merger. We’ll have to wait and see.

Bottom Line:

There’s a lot of exciting stuff happening with Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, but it’s worth pointing out that we don’t know exactly what’s coming next. The new premium credit card sounds exciting, but questions remain about it and the rewards program it will be part of.

Final Thoughts

While we continue to eagerly await more details surrounding Alaska Airlines’ new premium card, what’s been announced thus far is undoubtedly intriguing.

Intriguing is also a good word for the changes surrounding the airline, its merger with Hawaiian, and the combined loyalty program launching in October. We don’t have the full details on these developments yet, so it’s worth being cautiously optimistic about this new card and how it fits into a yet-unknown picture.
