Alaska Airlines has announced an exciting new route as it grows its international offerings. The airline will start flights between its Seattle (SEA) hub and Reykjavík (KEF) next year.

“The addition of Reykjavík expands Alaska’s global footprint, connecting our guests with even more of the world through the elevated service they know and love,” said Kirsten Amrine, Alaska’s vice president of revenue management and network planning. “We’re excited to launch our new nonstop route next summer, bringing travelers closer to the natural magic of Iceland and providing a seamless gateway to Europe.”

Let’s take a look at the route, which is now on sale.

Alaska’s Summer Service to Reykjavík

Alaska Airlines will begin nonstop flights from Seattle (SEA) to Reykjavík (KEF) starting May 28, 2026.

The airline will fly once daily between the 2 cities during the summer months, with flights ending on September 8, 2026.

Alaska will operate the long-range Boeing 737 8 MAX on the route, a single-aisle jet, on the 8-hour flight.

This is an interesting choice for a longer route, especially given Alaska’s plans to fly its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to London (LHR) next month. However, Icelandair also flies the SEA-KEF route and uses single-aisle Airbus A320neo jets.

These 2 carriers also said they’re expanding their codeshare agreement to enable passengers to fly beyond Seattle and Reykjavik with a single ticket.

When the new flights launch, premium passengers will enjoy enhanced amenities as Alaska begins long-haul flights to Europe.

The airline is refreshing the first-class dining experience with a new serveware collection inspired by the Pacific Northwest. Additionally, premium class passengers will be offered a complimentary snack basket on flights over 670 miles.

Bottom Line:

Passengers in first class and those with Atmos Rewards Gold, Platinum, and Titanium status will have access to the Icelandair Saga Lounge at KEF before their flights.

How To Book

Alaska’s tickets for the route are now on sale, with cash fares starting around $740 round-trip in economy.

You can expect to pay around 55,000 Atmos Rewards points, plus $300 in taxes and fees, for a round-trip award ticket. That’s a pretty solid deal for a round-trip ticket to Europe.

Earning Alaska Atmos Reward points can be challenging. However, they are the highest-valued airline points available, according to our monthly valuations. Here are some ways you can earn points:
