Atmos Rewards Summit Card: What You Need To Know

Alaska Airlines has launched the Atmos Rewards Summit card, its new premium credit card designed for travelers who want enhanced rewards and travel benefits. The card is co-branded with Bank of America and integrates with Alaska’s newly updated loyalty program, Atmos Rewards.

Alaska Airlines teased travelers earlier this summer with hints of a premium card announcement on the horizon. Now, that card is officially here.

For starters, it has a very generous welcome offer: New cardholders can earn 100,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 within the first 90 days.

Beyond the welcome bonus offer, the Atmos Rewards Summit card offers several standout features designed for travelers who want flexibility, rewards, and premium perks:

  • Global Companion Award: Book award travel for 2 and cover your companion’s ticket with points. Cardholders can earn up to 2 companion awards per year — including a high-value 100,000-point award for big spenders (earned by spending $60,000 or more on purchases in a card anniversary year). This benefit works across Alaska’s network and partners, in any cabin, even business and first class.
  • Strong earning potential: Earn 3 points per $1 on dining and foreign purchases, plus Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines spending. Linked Bank of America customers get an extra boost to earn 3.3 points per $1 in these categories.
  • Fast track to elite status: Every $2 spent earns a status point, plus receive 10,000 status points annually starting with your first anniversary. This accelerates progress toward Atmos elite status — and with that, Oneworld elite benefits.
  • Alaska Lounge access perks: Get 8 lounge passes annually, shareable with friends and family. Plus, enjoy a premium bar experience in Alaska Lounges through 2026.
  • Travel convenience: Free checked bags for you and up to 6 guests, early boarding, waived partner award booking fees, a $50 travel delay credit for qualifying delays, and waived same-day flight change fees.
  • Points flexibility: Transfer points to 5 hotel programs at favorable rates, and share points freely with up to 10 other Atmos Rewards members without transfer fees.

Brett Catlin, Alaska Airlines’ VP of loyalty, calls the Atmos Rewards Summit card “a new bar for what a premium travel card can be — globally connected, deeply rewarding and designed to elevate every step of the journey.”

From our perspective, the combination of strong rewards, the ability to earn elite status via credit card spending, and solid premium perks really makes this card stand out in the crowded airline credit card space.

Hot Tip:

You can potentially use your 100,000-point Global Companion Award to book 2 business-class tickets on Alaska’s partner network. Say you’re flying from Seattle to Tokyo Narita in business class — usually costing 120,000 points per person. You’d redeem 120,000 points for yourself, but your companion would only need 20,000 points after using the companion award, saving you a huge 100,000 points.

The Alaska Signature Card Rebrands as Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature®

Alongside the Atmos Rewards Summit card launch, Alaska Airlines is rebranding its longtime Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card as the Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® card.

For existing cardholders, there’s no action required. Your card and benefits continue uninterrupted.

Key perks include the popular $99 Companion Fare, which is now valid for travel on both Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines within North America (fare plus taxes and fees from $23).

Cardholders of the refreshed Atmos Rewards Ascent card will continue to earn rewards on eligible purchases and have access to the new Atmos Rewards program. Furthermore, the card currently offers preferred boarding on Alaska Airlines flights, and the airline says preferred boarding for Hawaiian Airlines flights will be added later this fall.

Newly branded Atmos Rewards Ascent cards will be issued upon renewal for existing cardholders and upon account opening for new applicants. This non-premium Ascent card provides solid value for casual to mid-level Alaska flyers who want flexible rewards and companion benefits without the higher annual fee and elite status perks that come with the Atmos Rewards Summit card.

Final Thoughts

The Atmos Rewards Summit card is a bold statement from Alaska Airlines and Bank of America in the premium travel card market. It combines impressive earning rates, elite status acceleration, and a host of travel perks that will appeal to points enthusiasts and frequent flyers — from the new Global Companion Award to Alaska Lounge access and flexible point transfers.

Meanwhile, the rebranded Atmos Rewards Ascent card will continue to deliver solid value for loyal Alaska travelers who don’t need to earn elite status or lounge access but still want the popular companion fare and want to earn valuable Atmos Rewards.

For travelers interested in premium airline credit cards, the Atmos Rewards Summit card offers a range of rewards and benefits worth considering, particularly with the current 100,000-point welcome bonus available.
