Allegiant has built its brand on ultra-low base fares and charging for nearly everything else, so it’s worth paying attention when the airline says it’s giving something away.

Allegiant has announced free inflight beverages starting August 1, 2026, along with a new premium cabin called Allegiant First that arrives in spring 2027.

Here’s what’s actually changing and who benefits.

What’s Changing at Allegiant?

The beverage news is the part that affects every passenger right away. Beginning August 1, all Allegiant flights will include complimentary soft drinks, juice, and water. That’s a real shift for a carrier that has long charged for a can of soda, and it brings Allegiant closer to what most travelers already expect on a short flight.

There will also be “elevated” free drinks — coffee, protein shakes, sports drinks, or an alcohol-and-mixer pour — but these are reserved for Allways Rewards Visa^® card holders, and even then it’s 1 drink per flight, capped at $16 in value. If you don’t carry Allegiant’s credit card, your free options are limited to soda, juice, and water. It’s a nice perk, but it’s also part of the industry trend to nudge customers toward a co-branded card.

The bigger structural change is Allegiant First. Launching on select aircraft in spring 2027, the cabin will have 8 seats in a 2-2 layout at the front of the plane. Allegiant lists a 5-inch recline, calf rests, an adjustable headrest, more legroom, and a 37-inch seat pitch. The fare also bundles priority check-in and boarding plus a personal item, a carry-on, and a checked bag up to 70 pounds.

For context, 37 inches of pitch is closer to a roomy domestic first-class seat than a lie-flat business product, and 8 seats per plane means availability will be tight. The bundled bags matter, though.

Allegiant’s baggage fees add up fast, so a fare that includes a carry-on and a checked bag could offer reasonable value, depending on how the airline prices it. However, that’s an important detail we don’t know yet. Seats go on sale mid-August, but Allegiant hasn’t shared fares, routes, or which aircraft get the cabin first.

Allegiant First will sit alongside Allegiant Extra rather than replace it, and both changes tie into the ongoing integration with Sun Country as the combined company reworks its onboard offerings.

The best drink perks require the Allways Rewards card, the premium cabin is small, and until Allegiant publishes pricing, it’s hard to say whether Allegiant First will offer better value than paying for a few add-ons with a regular ticket.
