American Airlines is calling an audible this fall — good news for football fans. As part of its largest-ever fall football schedule, the airline is adding more than 185 flights and 22,000 seats to help fans catch their favorite college and pro teams in action — including to several international destinations.

Let’s take a look at American Airlines’ enhanced fall schedule geared for football fans.

Fly American to Your Football Game This Season

American Airlines will offer more than 22,000 seats for professional and college football fans to view their favorite teams under stadium lights this fall, more than any other carrier.

The Fort Worth-based airline will fly over 128,000 miles — the equivalent of more than 2 million football fields — with special service on important game weekends from major hubs such as Philadelphia (PHL), Washington, D.C. (DCA), Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), and Los Angeles (LAX).

Some of the big matchups with added flights are:

  • San Francisco 49ers at New Orleans Saints (September 12 and 15)
  • Philadelphia Eagles at Kansas City Chiefs (September 13 and 15)
  • Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins (November 7 to 10)
  • Kansas City Chiefs at Las Vegas Raiders (January 2 and 5)

College football fans will also have more connectivity to enjoy tailgating at their favorite school. This season, American is adding flights to more than 40 college games, including improved service for Texas Longhorns fans departing from Austin (AUS).

International Flights for Football Season

American isn’t just focused on domestic matchups. This November, the airline is adding extra flights between Miami (MIA) and Madrid (MAD), where the Miami Dolphins will face off against the Washington Commanders at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium — the iconic home of Real Madrid.

American operates more flights to London (LHR), Madrid (MAD), and São Paulo (GRU) than any other U.S. airline. And with its close partnership with British Airways, fans can easily connect to even more international games — including matchups in cool cities like Dublin and Berlin.

Final Thoughts

American Airlines is clearly leaning into football season with its most extensive fall schedule to date. Adding more than 185 flights and 22,000 extra seats gives fans more options to travel to domestic and international games.

Whether you’re planning a weekend in Green Bay or heading overseas for a matchup in Madrid, the expanded schedule — combined with American’s partnerships and hub network — offers more flexibility for football-focused travel this fall.
