The latest American Airlines promotion allows you to earn bonus miles on premium cabin flights, and while it appears to be a targeted promotion, the vast majority of AAdvantage accounts seems to have received an offer.

Here is a full look at all the details to help you decide if it is worth taking advantage of for you upcoming holiday travels.

Earn Bonus Miles on Premium Cabin Flights With American

The exact number of miles you are able to earn and the number of flights you need to take will vary based on what offer you are targeted for. Here is the offer I am seeing in my AAdvantage account:

The offer allows me to earn 10,000 bonus American Airlines miles after registering by November 11, 2024, and flying 2 eligible flights in first, business, or premium economy by December 19, 2024. Note that the 10,000 bonus miles are in addition to the miles you would usually earn on these flights.

While my offer is for 10,000 bonus miles, we’ve also seen accounts targeted for 5,000, 15,000, and even 25,000 bonus miles — though higher offers seem to require booking up to 6 premium cabin flights.

All of the other terms of the various offers are the same, including:

  • Register for this promotion by November 11, 2024, before booking your flights
  • Book your flights between your registration date and November 11, 2024
  • Fly the quoted number of flights in first, business, or premium economy by December 19, 2024
  • Blackout dates include: November 22, November 30, December 1, and December 2, 2024
  • Promotion only applies to eligible flights marketed and operated by American Airlines
  • Reservations created and ticketed before registration aren’t eligible to earn toward this promotion
  • Award tickets are not eligible for this promotion
  • Promotion applies to eligible, published fares in First booked in F or A; Business booked in J, C, D, I or R, or Premium Economy booked in W or P on eligible flights
  • Bonus miles will be awarded within 14 days after the eligible flight segment is posted to your AAdvantage account

To see what targeted offer you’ve received and to register, sign in to your AAdvantage account on the AA website and click on the promotions tab.

From there, you’ll be able to see what offer your account has been targeted for and view all the applicable terms and conditions.

Is It Worth It?

We value American Airlines AAdvantage miles at 1.4 cents each. Given that, even earning 25,000 bonus miles doesn’t make this promotion valuable enough for you to go out of your way for — especially since it requires booking cash tickets.

However, if you were planning some holiday travel with American Airlines during this time period anyway, and would have flown in a premium cabin anyway, then this is an excellent opportunity to earn some extra bonus miles without any additional work.

Even if you planned to fly economy, it might be worth checking if the price to book a premium cabin instead feels worthwhile given the number of bonus miles you’ll earn in return.

Final Thoughts

Opportunities to earn bonus miles on travel you might have been planning to take anyway are always welcome — especially during the busy holiday travel season.
