American Airlines is padding out its regional route network with 3 new routes.

From February, the Dallas-based carrier will introduce new regional routes to its hubs in Miami (MIA) and Phoenix (PHX).

Here are the details of the routes which will take off on February 15, 2025.

American Expands Regional Network

Appleton, Wisconsin (ATW), Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (MDT), and Springfield, Missouri (SGF) are the latest regional airports to welcome new American Airlines services, as noticed by Aeroroutes.

Residents of Harrisburg and Springfield will be able to enjoy this new nonstop service to Miami from February 15.

On the same day, over in Arizona, the first nonstop service from Phoenix to Appleton will take to the skies. The route is already operated on a daily basis by Allegiant Air.

American has scheduled just 1 weekly trip on each of the new routes with each service operating only on Saturdays. This could increase to a more regular service once American has established its success.

Passengers will be able to use these new routes to connect to American’s wider domestic and international networks from its hubs in Miami and Phoenix.

Each of the regional airports already has nonstop connections to other American Airlines hub airports, such as Charlotte (CLT) and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW).

American will deploy its Envoy Air-operated fleet of Embraer E175s on the routes. These small regional jets feature both economy and first class cabins.

At the front of the aircraft in first class, you’ll find either 8 or 12 recliner seats, depending on which variant of the E175 you’re flying. The 1-2 seat configuration of the cabin makes this jet feel more private than the first-class seats you’ll experience onboard American’s largest narrow-body jets like the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 Max.

The economy cabin, which includes Main Cabin Extra seats, is in a 2-2 configuration.

Final Thoughts

International route launches to far-flung destinations aren’t the only announcements worth celebrating.

These shorter, regional routes are crucial for connecting those living in remote areas of the U.S. with the rest of the country and beyond.
