American Airlines has revealed more details about a brand-new Admirals Club that it will open soon at its Charlotte (CLT) hub. This space will become AA’s largest lounge today.

Moreover, the new lounge will help the carrier achieve its premium push at the airport, which it’s been working on for the last couple of years.

Let’s take a look at the details of this exciting new lounge space for AA’s massive Southeastern hub.

New Charlotte Admirals Club Is Poised To Be the Carrier’s Largest

Last year, we learned of the big plans American Airlines has for its second-largest hub in Charlotte. The carrier is in the midst of revamping its space at the airport, and a major part of that is providing far more premium spaces for its millions of passengers who use the airport every year.

Those plans include a new Flagship Lounge at the airport, an offering the busy hub has been sorely lacking for years. And now we’re learning additional details about how the carrier will offer more Admirals Club space to its passengers: by adding a brand-new, 40,000-square-foot Admirals Club.

Construction is set to begin this year, and when completed, the new Admirals Club will provide views over the concourse from the mezzanine level and will become the network’s largest lounge.

When it’s open, guests can expect design inspired by its home city and spaces designed for all sorts of lounge activities, including “spa-style shower suites,” bars, and numerous spaces for working, relaxing, eating, and more.

American says that the relatively new Provisions by Admirals Club location near gate A1 and its existing Admirals Clubs in Concourses B and C/D will stay open during the construction of the all-new lounge.

This announcement from American Airlines is the latest evidence that the carrier has renewed its focus on improving the passenger experience for its flyers — especially those on the premium end. It’s making major investments in its hubs across the country with new, renovated, or expanded Admirals Clubs and Flagship Lounges, introducing new onboard experiences like the all-new Flagship Suite, committing to an expansion of entertainment screens in the economy cabin, rolling out new inflight food and beverage options, and more.

Time will tell whether these investments will pay off, but it seems the Fort Worth-based airline is finally serious about competing with its peers Delta and United in premium offerings.

Final Thoughts

Charlotte is finally getting the lounge space it needs with a brand-new Admirals Club that will be the largest in the entire country. This addition, plus the addition of its first-ever Flagship Lounge, will finally make the airport feel like the carrier’s second-largest hub and not just a very busy afterthought.
