American Airlines just unveiled a new way for small- and mid-sized companies to unlock more value through business travel.

Starting July 21, 2025, businesses enrolled in the AAdvantage Business program will have access to a brand-new tier — AAdvantage Business Select — aimed at companies with at least $250,000 in annual travel spend.

This elevated tier brings added perks like fare discounts, earlier boarding, and more flexible mileage redemptions — potentially making it easier for companies to turn necessary business trips into meaningful rewards.

Here are all the details of this new tier within American’s AAdvantage Business program.

What Is AAdvantage Business?

If you’re unfamiliar, the AAdvantage Business program is American Airlines‘ small-to-midsize business rewards platform. It’s free to join and allows both the company and the employee to earn rewards when flights are booked through American’s site, mobile app, or a connected travel agency.

Here’s the basic rundown:

  • Businesses earn 1 AAdvantage mile for every $1 spent on eligible flights.
  • Employees can earn additional Loyalty Points if they register and book through the right channels.
  • Once the company hits a modest threshold — $5,000 in spend and 5 registered travelers — it can redeem miles for flights or transfer them directly to employees.
  • There’s added flexibility for companies that hold the Citi® / AAdvantage® Business™ World Elite Mastercard®, which waives some spend and redemption rules.

What are Loyalty Points? They’re the sole metric travelers care about if they want to earn American Airlines elite status. Our guide has more details.

A New Tier for High-Spending Companies

The newly announced AAdvantage Business Select tier adds meaningful perks for companies that spend $250,000 or more annually on eligible travel. While that may sound like a lot, it’s a reachable target for growing companies with consistent travel needs — especially those with employees traveling regularly.

Here’s what companies in the Select tier can expect:

  • Up to 4% savings on eligible fares
  • Group 5 preferred boarding for all travelers booked under the program
  • Immediate access to use company-earned miles for redemptions and employee transfers — no waiting until spend thresholds are met

This move to add a new tier to the AAdvantage Business Select program by American Airlines is clearly aimed at keeping high-spend companies within the AAdvantage ecosystem while offering better value and incentives to consolidate their business travel with the airline.

“The AAdvantage Business program was designed to meet small and medium-sized businesses where they are and provide them with a way to make business travel more seamless and valuable,” said Lucas Martin, American’s senior vice president of sales. “Adding the AAdvantage Business Select tier allows us to further enhance the benefits that our most valuable members earn.”

With airfare still on the rise and loyalty perks changing constantly, programs like AAdvantage Business Select make it easier for companies to stay loyal — offering real benefits not just for the business, but for the people actually hitting the road.

Final Thoughts

American Airlines’ new AAdvantage Business Select tier adds meaningful perks for companies with higher travel budgets, making it easier to get more value from business travel. For businesses that don’t yet hit the $250K spend threshold, the standard AAdvantage Business program still delivers solid rewards and flexibility.

If your company travels frequently, this program is definitely worth checking out. It can help you get more from your flights while making business travel a little more rewarding for everyone involved.
