American Airlines will send its so-called B787-9P to additional places and will extend the use of that aircraft on other routes.

What’s the B787-9P plane, you ask? It’s American’s newest version of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner with the latest technology and more premium seats than the average aircraft. It also features the airline’s all-new Flagship Suites.

Boeing 787-9P service is being extended on existing routes between Chicago and Philadelphia and London. Soon, the aircraft will operate flights between Dallas and London and Buenos Aires.

Let’s take a closer look at the new routes featuring American Airlines’ newest plane for the upcoming winter schedule.

Extended Service on Select Routes

First up, American Airlines is extending summer service with the B787-9P aircraft to 2 destinations.

Starting on July 5, 2025, all flights between Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and London Heathrow (LHR) will feature the newest AA planes with Flagship Suites in the front cabin. Additionally, flights from Philadelphia (PHL) to London will see the B787-9P model for daily service between October 25, 2025, and January 5, 2026.

New Routes With American Airlines B787-9P Service

AA is thinking about flight time and distance when deciding where to send its most premium planes. Thus, passengers will start seeing them on long-haul routes in important markets.

“In addition to giving customers more premium seat offerings in key markets, we are also expanding this product to some of our longest routes, giving travelers an elevated experience when traveling to exciting destinations,” said Brian Znotins, American’s senior vice president of network and schedule planning.

American already uses its flagship Dreamliner planes on some of its longest routes, such as flights from Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) to both Brisbane, Australia (BNE) and Auckland, New Zealand (AKL).

Neither of those offerings is going away. The Dallas-Brisbane route will feature the B787-9P planes daily from October 25, 2025, to March 28, 2026. Meanwhile, the Dallas-Auckland route will see this aircraft daily from January 5 to March 28, 2026.

New routes to feature the B787-9P aircraft are as follows:

New Amenities Coming to American Airlines

AA is also rolling out sleep-focused amenities that should add comfort to your next trip.

The airline will enhance its Flagship Business experience by introducing pajamas and mattress pads on widebody flights to East Asia, the Middle East, India, Australia, and New Zealand. These new perks will join the slippers, pillows, and bedding already available to customers. According to an AA spokesperson, this change should occur “later this summer. “

Additionally, customers in Premium Economy and Main Cabin will find comfort items like lumbar pillows and fleece blankets.

Final Thoughts

American Airlines continues to expand the route offerings of the B787-9P. The aircraft will continue flying from Chicago and Philadelphia to London past the summer dates originally announced, they will continue to operate service to Australia and New Zealand, and, finally, they’ll operate on 2 new routes from the airline’s Dallas hub.

Those who want to experience AA’s most luxurious seats and modern amenities should be excited about the continued expansion of this aircraft’s service.
