American Express is well known for providing different welcome bonus offers to some applicants through targeted opportunities. Sometimes, that means a shift toward bonus offers framed as “earn a bonus as high as …,” with messaging that doesn’t clearly spell out the actual bonus amount before you apply.

Now, we’re seeing that type of welcome offer extended to the Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express:

  • You may be eligible for as high as $200 cash back after spending $2,000 in the first 6 months. Welcome offers vary and you may not be eligible for an offer. Cash back is received as Reward Dollars, redeemable for statement credit or at Amazon.com checkout. Terms Apply.

Since Amex typically restricts its customers from receiving a welcome offer on the same card more than once, getting the best possible welcome offer when you apply for a new card is important. Here’s how you can find the welcome offer as high as $200 on the Amex Blue Cash Everyday card.

Amex Blue Cash Everyday Card Welcome Offer

There are a few methods you can try for finding the welcome offer as high as $200. Before going too far, it’s worth pointing out that you’ll earn Reward Dollars with the Amex Blue Cash Everyday card. These earnings are deposited into your account after your monthly statement closes.

Option 1: Check on Amex Directly (Try This First)

If you’re applying for the Amex Blue Cash Everyday card, we recommend you first check directly with American Express to see what welcome offer you receive. On the home page, you should see messaging that your offer can be as high as $200 in cash-back.

After clicking on “Apply Now,” you can either log in to your existing Amex account (if you have one) to autofill the required information or fill out the required details to proceed.

After providing the required information, submitting the application form will reveal your personalized offer, which can be as high as $200 cash-back after meeting the introductory spending requirement.

However, your welcome offer might differ, as these are targeted. Not everyone will see the same version.

Reaching this point and checking your offer shouldn’t affect your credit scoreThat’s because American Express uses a soft credit check, rather than a hard inquiry, for this process. Your credit score may be impacted only if you decide to accept the card’s welcome offer and open the account. If you like the offer and decide to open the account, that final submission may trigger a hard inquiry.

Option 2: Check on CardMatch

If you don’t find a welcome offer on American Express website or want to see whether other targeted offers are available to you, we recommend checking the CardMatch tool.

This tool also completes a soft credit check to determine eligibility for elevated offers. Since it’s not a hard inquiry on your credit report, this won’t count against your credit score. CardMatch can help you find any targeted offers available to you.

Option 3: Targeted Email Offers

Amex also might send you targeted offers by email, but you must opt in to receive new card and credit offers. You can enroll in these from inside your Amex account.

After logging in, click on the tab called “Account Services” in the top menu, then choosing the selection entitled “Alerts and Communications.” In this section, click on the choice that says “Marketing Email Preferences” to opt in for notifications about targeted offers.

Option 4: Snag a Referral

Friends or family members with an American Express card can refer you to the Amex Blue Cash Everyday card using the Amex refer-a-friend program. Even better, your friend or family member doesn’t have to have the Amex Blue Cash Everyday card to refer you! You can be referred to any card that American Express offers from any other card type.

Further, personal referral offers can also include increased welcome bonus offers. In the past, we’ve seen elevated offers available through referral links. Given that, if you happen to be targeted for one of these offers, we recommend jumping on it!

Is $200 a Good Welcome Bonus Offer?

Looking across the best no-annual-fee credit cards, a $200 welcome offer is pretty common. The difference between those other cards and the Amex Blue Cash Everyday card is that Amex won’t provide the maximum welcome offer to every applicant. Your offer can be as high as $200, meaning it could be less. The offers are targeted and individualized.

Final Thoughts

If you haven’t already, now might be a great time to consider adding the Amex Blue Cash Everyday card to your wallet. With a welcome offer as high as $200 available to new applicants, you can take home a quality offer that represents up to a 10% return on spending during the introductory period. Beyond that, the card offers solid earnings with a $0 annual fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the current welcome bonus offer on the Amex Blue Cash Everyday Card?

The current welcome offer is as high as $200 cash-back after spending $2,000 on purchases within 6 months of opening your account. Welcome offers vary and are targeted, though, and you need to start the application process to see your specific bonus offer. There’s no impact on your credit to see the welcome offer, and you’ll only receive a hard inquiry if you decide to accept the account. This might have an impact on your credit.

Do I have the accept the Amex Blue Cash Everyday card to see the $200 offer?

No, you don’t have to accept the card and complete the full application just to see your welcome offer. However, you do need to start the application process and provide some personal details before you can see your specific bonus offer from American Express. Once you see the bonus amount, you can decide to accept this welcome offer or exit the application.

Can I check the offer without a hard pull?

Yes, you can check your individualized welcome offer without a hard inquiry on your credit report. After starting the application, provide your personal details and submit to see your welcome bonus offer amount. If you like it and decide to accept the welcome offer, you’ll finalize the application. At this point, Amex might do a hard inquiry on your credit report. This could affect your credit score.

Why am I not seeing a $200 offer?

The welcome bonus offer on the Amex Blue Cash Everyday card is as high as $200 — meaning $200 cash-back is the maximum offer amount, but your particular bonus offer could be lower. To see your specific offer, you need to fill out the application form with your name, date of birth, and other details. After seeing the bonus offer, you can choose to accept or decline it. Your credit score may be affected if you accept the welcome offer and open the account.

Is the $200 welcome offer targeted?

Yes, the Amex Blue Cash Everyday card has targeted offers, offering a welcome bonus offer as high as $200 after meeting the introductory spending requirement. However, your version might be different. The only way to confirm your welcome offer is to start an application and see the details after filling out the application. You’ll still have the option to cancel the application if you don’t like the welcome offer you see, but it’s the only way to know exactly the amount of your welcome bonus offer.
