The American Express Centurion Lounge network is about to get its third location in Europe, thanks to plans for a new lounge in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) is the fourth-busiest airport in Europe, and Amex is the first global credit card company to announce plans for a private lounge at the hub.

When will the Centurion Lounge open in Amsterdam, and what will travelers find inside? Here’s what we know so far.

Details of the Amsterdam Centurion Lounge

The Centurion Lounge in Amsterdam (AMS) will cover nearly 6,000 square feet. That’s bigger than the 4,500 square feet at the Centurion Lounge in Seattle (SEA) but smaller than the 6,300 square feet of Philadelphia’s lounge.

The lounge, which is expected to open in Concourse E in 2026, will feature Dutch-inspired design. The aesthetic will draw inspiration from Amsterdam’s famous waterways with blues, greens, and earth tones, and the design will evoke the iconic houses lining the canals.

A coffee bar, which will celebrate Dutch coffee culture, will be a focus of the lounge. There will also be premium dining serving locally inspired bites, a full-service bar, multiple seating zones with charging ports near every seat, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Hot Tip:

Concourse E at AMS is used by airlines like China Airlines, China Southern, EVA Air, Malaysia Airlines, KLM, and Delta. This concourse serves flights leaving the Schengen Zone.

Why Amsterdam?

The Centurion Lounge network continues to grow, with plans for lounges in Newark (EWR), Salt Lake City (SLC), and Tokyo Haneda (HND) previously announced.

Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport is well-connected in Europe; it welcomed nearly 67 million passengers in 2024. It offers flights to more than 300 worldwide destinations and serves as the main hub for SkyTeam carrier KLM. And Amex says over 600,000 of its cardholders pass through the airport annually.

“We are proud to welcome American Express as the first global credit card company that will open a proprietary lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol with an iconic Centurion Lounge,” said Dave Stroop, manager of terminal development at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. “With its focus on comfort, premium amenities, and exceptional service, we’re confident the Centurion Lounge will elevate the travel experience for eligible card members and attract both returning and new airport travelers alike.”

Hot Tip:

The international network of American Express Centurion Lounges includes locations in Mexico, Argentina, Sweden, the U.K., along with upcoming lounges in both Tokyo and Amsterdam. These lounges typically have different guest policies than the Centurion Lounges in the U.S. — and they’re often more generous.

Final Thoughts

The Centurion Lounge is gaining another international location. There’s no confirmed opening date for the Amsterdam lounge, but it’s expected to open in 2026, and we know it will be smaller than some of the massive lounges in the U.S.

However, the lounge is sure to be a hit with passengers departing from or connecting through Amsterdam Schiphol, and it should offer the amenities we’ve come to expect from other American Express lounges.
