Check your accounts, because American Express just rolled out a nice Amex Offer for select IHG Hotels & Resorts.

Now through the end of the year, when you spend $250 or more at participating IHG Hotels & Resorts, you can earn $50 back.

Let’s take a look at the promotion details.

Savings at IHG Properties

If you’re unfamiliar with Amex Offers, these are available to those who hold an eligible American Express card. With Amex Offers, you can earn additional bonus points or get rebates as a statement credit.

Amex Offers are free to add to your cards, though you’ll need to be logged into your account to do so and must add the offer to your card before making a purchase. Otherwise, you won’t receive the credit.

IHG Amex Offer October 2024

This new Amex Offer is targeting IHG loyalists with the ability to earn $50 back when you spend $250 on your card:

  • Valid until December 31, 2024
  • Must make $250 in one or more purchases at eligible locations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean
  • Valid for room rate or room charges
Hot Tip:

Make sure you get your charges as close to $250 as possible. Any more than that, and your discount becomes a diminishing return. If you’ve got a pretty expensive stay or you’re going to be in a hotel for multiple nights, consider splitting the payment over more than 1 card if your spouse, friend, or relative has this offer.

Is It Worth It?

This is a solid deal and among the better Amex Offers we have seen for IHG lately. Getting $50 back on a $250 room charge is essentially a 20% discount — we’ll take it!

As it stands, if you have this Amex Offer on The Platinum Card® from American Express, you’ll earn just 1x Membership Rewards points per dollar spent on your IHG stay.

Meanwhile, other cards, like Chase’s IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card, will earn up to 26x IHG One Rewards points per dollar spent. This is obviously a far better return, so it’s worth looking into splitting your payments to maximize your earnings and discounts.

Final Thoughts

Amex Offers are always worth looking at, especially if you can often find a way to earn bonus points or statement credits on charges you were already planning on making.

This newest promotion includes a rebate with IHG, allowing you to get up to 20% of your money back on select IHG stays. If you’re interested, be sure to log into your account and add it to your card, then make a qualifying purchase by December 31.
