Amtrak has been on a roll lately with flash sales, but a new deal on the Auto Train is certainly one you should pay attention to.

Let’s take a look!

Book Auto Train Tickets Through Aug. 18

Amtrak is running a flash sale on Auto Train tickets through August 18 for travel from August 21 until December 20, 2023. This is a great way to avoid I-95 traffic and transport your vehicle from Florida to Virginia.

Some sample deals include coach tickets from Sanford, Florida, to Lorton, Virginia (outside of Washington, D.C.), starting at just $39 one-way in coach, plus the cost of your vehicle. Roomettes start at $239, while bedrooms start at $439.

Note that the best deal is for trips on the Auto Train (Train 52) Northbound service only from Sanford to Lorton, not in reverse.

How To Book

You can check out the deal and book directly through Amtrak. Here’s what you should know before booking:

  • Valid for northbound travel from Sanford, FL, to Lorton, VA, only
  • Blackout Dates: November 10 and 11, 2023; November 17 through 19, 2023; November 24 and 25, 2023
  • Coach fares are non-refundable but may be exchanged before departure; a 25% cancellation fee may apply.
  • Rooms must be canceled at least 15 days before scheduled departure; a 25% cancellation fee may apply.
  • Rooms canceled less than 15 days before scheduled departure and before departure will receive a non-refundable eVoucher, and a 25% cancellation fee may apply.

To maximize the deal, make sure to book your ticket with a card that rewards you for travel purchases. Some of our favorites include the Chase Sapphire Reserve®Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, and Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card. If using these cards, you’d earn 3x points, 2x points, and 2x miles, respectively, for this deal on Amtrak fares.

If you ride the rails often, you may want to look into a co-branded credit card, such as the Amtrak Guest Rewards® Preferred Mastercard®, which earns 3x points on Amtrak travel, including onboard purchases.

Additionally, Amtrak has another card, the [up cc_id=369257 name="amtrak-guest-rewards-annual-fee-number"]-annual-fee Amtrak Guest Rewards® Mastercard®, which earns 2x points on Amtrak travel, including onboard purchases.
