The sky’s the limit for Avelo Airlines.
The fledgling start-up has announced the opening of a brand new base at Fort Myers (RSW) in Florida.
“Based on the success of our initial route between Southern Connecticut and Fort Myers, we have announced four additional destinations that will take flight from RSW this fall – creating a meaningful source of new visitors to Southwest Florida,” said Andrew Levy, CEO and Chairman at Avelo Airlines. “This is just the beginning.”
Let’s take a look at what Avelo’s new Fort Myers base means for you.
Fort Myers Announced as Avelo’s Next Base
Fort Myers is set to be Avelo Airline’s fourth base, joining Burbank (BUR), Orlando (MCO), and Tweed-New Haven (HVN).
To start with, Avelo will base just 1 of its 11 Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 jets at Fort Myers. By the end of 2022, the airline expects to have taken delivery of 3 more aircraft, bringing the total to 14.
With the opening of the Avelo’s new Fort Myers base, the airline will launch 4 new routes to Raleigh-Durham (RDU) and Binghamton (BGM) in New York, as well as 2 airports in Michigan: Kalamazoo (AZO) and Lansing (LAN).
See below for more information regarding each of the routes’ start dates and schedules:

As we’ve come to expect from Avelo, connectivity is key as these new routes will be providing nonstop service between cities that would usually require at least 1 connection.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft set to operate the new routes will feature an entirely 189-seat economy cabin.
Bottom Line: Avelo Airlines only took to the skies in 2021 and already serves 31 domestic destinations within the U.S. The airline focuses on providing low-cost, hassle-free, nonstop services. Check out aveloair.com for more information on where it could fly you.
Final Thoughts
Avelo continues to improve air connectivity around the U.S. by launching new routes to previously underserved destinations.
With the opening of the airline’s new base at Fort Myers, the airline will be connecting travelers in Southwest Florida with Binghamton, Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Raleigh-Durham.
Watch this space, as there are likely to be more exciting new Avelo routes on the horizon.
