Avelo Airlines, the ultra-low-cost start-up airline, has been on a roll lately, expanding its route network once again.
Now, the Houston-based carrier is announcing 3 new destinations from 1 of its bases, Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).
Here’s what you need to know!
New Routes Launch This June
Avelo operates out of Raleigh-Durham’s Terminal 1, now basing a second Boeing 737-800 aircraft in its newly-minted hub. As such, the carrier will launch twice weekly flights between Raleigh-Durham (RDU) and Manchester, New Hampshire (MHT); Memphis, Tennessee (MEM); and Rochester, New York (ROC):

“The addition of a second aircraft to our RDU base grows Avelo’s service from The Research Triangle to 10 popular nonstop destinations,” said Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy. “We are very encouraged by the momentum Avelo is experiencing in Raleigh-Durham. We’re just getting started and look forward to inspiring even more travel to and from RDU.”
Avelo has announced several new routes in recent weeks, so it’s an exciting time for the airline, which now serves 40 destinations across the U.S.
Last week, the airline announced 3 new routes from Mobile (BFM) and Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina (GSP). A few weeks back, Brownsville–South Padre Island, Texas (BRO); Charlottesville, Virginia (CHO); and Colorado Springs, Colorado (COS) were announced as new destinations. Finally, nonstop flights between Charlottesville, Virginia (CHO), and Orlando (MCO) will begin this spring.
Like many of Avelo’s previous route launches, the airline is offering promo fares to drum up interest in the route. Introductory fares begin at $39 each way. Fares must be booked by March 28, 2023, for travel through September 6, 2023. Keep in mind that fares will be available on limited flights and seats.
Hot Tip: Make sure to book your tickets online versus calling Avelo’s customer service line to book, as this option will incur an additional $20 fee.
Finally, remember that Avelo is a low-cost carrier, which means you’ll pay extra for your carry-on and checked baggage and seat selection. To understand how much you’ll pay for add-ons, check out Avelo’s optional services page for details on how much carry-on and checked bags will cost before your trip.
Final Thoughts
Avelo Airlines is adding more nonstop flights to its ever-expanding route map, which now includes 10 nonstop options from its Raleigh-Durham base. If you’re interested in traveling between the Research Triangle and Manchester, Memphis, or Rochester, make sure to snag 1 of the $39 promo fares before they expire on March 28!
