Avios Adds Calendar Tool To Make Award Searches Easier

Searching for British Airways, Iberia, or Aer Lingus award flights just got a lot less tedious, as Avios has rolled out a new calendar search tool that shows nonstop award availability across an entire month at once.

Better yet, it’s free to use and doesn’t require anything beyond an Avios account. Here’s a closer look at how it works.

New Avios Calendar Award Search Details

Previously, searching for award flights through British Airways Club, Iberia Club, or Aer Lingus AerClub meant checking a handful of dates at a time directly on the airline’s own site. That made it hard to get a real sense of where availability actually existed. The new tool fixes that by pulling up an entire month of nonstop award space in a single search.

• Programs included: British Airways, Iberia, and Aer Lingus. Qatar Airways, also part of the Avios family, isn’t included, but it has its own separate calendar search.

• What it shows: Nonstop award availability by date, filterable by cabin class on the next screen.
• Limitations: Only nonstop flights are shown, and you still have to book directly through the operating airline’s website, as Avios.com is search-only.

Since award availability primarily comes from each airline’s home hub — London for British Airways, Madrid for Iberia, and Dublin for Aer Lingus — the tool is most useful for point-to-point searches to and from those 3 cities, rather than connecting itineraries.

Once you choose the route you’d like to fly and the month you’d like to travel, you’ll see a calendar of availability like the screenshot below.

The results allow you to easily see available flight dates, the number of seats available, the cabin class of those seats, and the number of miles you’ll need to pay. Plus, you can easily filter between the cabin classes and quickly shift from month to month to see more availability.

If you have ever tried to search for award space on the British Airways or Iberia website before, you know these typically only showed a few days at a time, making for a pretty laborious process to locate availability. Thankfully, this new tool drastically solves that pain point.

Avios has added a genuinely useful calendar tool that shows a full month of nonstop British Airways, Iberia, and Aer Lingus award availability in a single search, which can be filtered by cabin.

It’s not a replacement for third-party tools like Seats.aero, and it won’t help with connections or replace dedicated award search engines, but for members trying to get a quick read on award space, it beats digging through each airline’s site date by date. Overall, this is a welcome upgrade.
